Is This Just the Beginning of a Depression? [View article]
Obama is a product of that "rescue the entire world" style of thinking. He will definitely try to spend this country into the proverbial poorhouse, throwing money at supporting all the illegal aliens, grade-school dropouts, union thugs, ACORN criminals, socialist academia airheads, ad infinitum. Not to speak of the AGW fiscal bankruptcy.

Graham,
Speaking of the miners [GDX] falling 10%... so what? They have climbed over 80% since March 2009 and are currently in a channel up formation, which is long-term bullish. Until the index falls below that lower bound, I wouldn't fret. It may well fall down to $45 but it will then climb to $58, then fall back to $52, then rise up to $64, then fall... Get the picture? Relax, pour yourself some coffee and light up your fav cigar, man.
U.S. Debt Hysteria Is Getting Ridiculous [View article]
E Nuff Sed, ".. If the government does not leverage up and provide monetary and fiscal support a quarter of the population will be depending on food banks instead of 5%, now. "
So.. thats where those 25% of the population belong: in food lines and banks.. WHY? because, they abused the credit privileges they were granted, they spent borrowed money foolishly, they failed to save for a rainy day, they partied with the grasshoppers, they didn't live within their means, and now that we are collapsing, they need to go straight to "Jail" and not pass "Go"!
And the government needs to man the food lines and soup kitchens, hand out food and basics, be polite to the indigents, and BE GLAD THAT THEY HAVE JOBS_FOR_LIFE!
PPI Still Showing No Signs of Inflation; Other Data Mixed [View article]
It won't be too long now, before more and more people begin to realize that inflation is WELL UNDERWAY. By the time the USGov announces it to be a fact, it will be too late: precious metals will be skyrocketing, gasoline will be reaching $4 and $5 a gal. and bread and milk at $6 and $7. Better start paying attention to REAL indicators and the true correlations, rather than the liars in the USGov.
How Did the Wage / Benefit Gap Between Public and Private Sectors Get So Huge? [View article]
I sure hope this depression-nee-recession keeps on dragging its recovery feet, so that government rolls will finally start being nibbled down to retaining those who actually DO SOMETHING in any given workday. From a former government contractor who spent 36 years doing the work that my government counterpart analyst/scientist didn't/couldn't/wouldn't, I saw so many useless drones on the dole doing nothing, nada, all day, that it was pitiful. As the influx of taxes and fees dwindles due to pervasive job loss in the private sector, public job cuts MUST begin in earnest, getting trimmed, and chopped down. If this continues unabated, I expect uprisings to begin, targeting the government workers, tax resistance, growing to more overt actions like Waco, Ruby Ridge by a growing crop of Timothy McVeigh wanna-bes.
Nouriel Roubini, One on One: More Doom and Gloom [View article]
Dr Roubini was right once in 2007. But, this is a different time. He says there is no inflation and cites gold and oil to support that. The problem is that those two commodities are highly speculated in, and are not easy to read inflation/deflation from as a result. But, taking a look at other important commodities that are not highly speculated in [1], will show plainly that we are seeing inflation getting stronger. Simply looking at your grocery bills and fuel bills will also show that inflation is eroding our currency with every day that goes by.

Expect Structurally High Unemployment to Continue; Risk of Recessionary Lapse [View article]
The stimulus funds are being hoarded by Congress so they can release it next year in time to make everything look wonderful leading up to midterm elections. You guess why.
Hah! There are almost no jobs opening, nor being created. Industry is deliberately delaying hiring workers until they see what this Government is unfurling in the way of taxes, and increases in energy costs, health costs. Cap and Trade and the new Healthcare disaster will stunt job growth.
Unemployment Casts a Long Shadow over Economic Recovery [View article]
Anyone not well into building stocks of essential supplies will be very sorry in the coming months. Further unemployment will drive more and more desperate people to do desperate things to survive. As more and more states and municipalities become strained to the breaking points, their employees will begin to leave their jobs due to lack of money to pay wages. The police and firefighters will become part of this jobless class. Who is going to protect everyone when essential services begin to cut back?
Your supplies should not only include non-perishable foodstuffs but medical supplies, guns, ammunition, water, batteries, fuels, and the like. It is coming folks, and just a question of when, not if.
BTW, it's going to be the way that we rid America of the Democratic rule in Congress starting next year and in 2012, the Great Change artist Obama as well.
