REITs And Rising Rates, What A Fool Believes
You've written several times about the relationship between interest rates and REIT prices. What if the relationship is not so much with interest rates but with the causes of rising interest rates? The Fed typically is raising rates to cool the economy and/or reduce inflation. If the Fed isn't acting, the market sometimes raises rates in anticipation of a Fed action. This time when the Fed acts it won't be in anticipation of inflation but just to eliminate QE and then to get rates back to normal.
REIT's may increase in price when inflation increases because they represent "hard" assets? I don't have the economic chops to defend this position. I'm simply wondering if the past relationship between REIT prices and interest rates is really a telling argument?
I've bought several of your recommendations over the last couple of months so you can see I'm not strongly wedded to this argument, but I am curious about your thoughts.

The Case For Investing In Suncor Energy
Elliott, I can't thank you enough for contributing articles like this and the earlier Golden age of Refining. They are both far beyound what I normally read about companies I've invested in that you make me feel like an insider in the oil industry.
