I retired in 2009, and had enough cash and portfolio liquidity to supplement social security until I had to start taking my MRD's from my IRA. I looked at the small annual income stream from my mutual funds, bonds, and ETFs and knew I had to do something to increase my supplemental income. With the help of some quality dividend-investing newsletters and sites like Seeking Alpha, I have increased my annual cash dividends in my IRA considerably I've been reinvesting the dividends since 2010, and feel confident that this income strategy will work for me as long as I stay on top of my investments .My goal is to generate more than enough cash dividends to meet my MRD without having to sell any positions.
