The Australian banks, who should have shrewd insight about miner's hype, seem to be enjoying the mining sector the way it is performing right now.

I'm filing this idea in the back drawer of my rare earth file where it is out of sight. It seems like most new ideas get similar treatment, lol.

  • Molycorp Doubles Production: Major Blow for Junior Rare Earth Stocks [View article]
Great Western still needs to increase its capital holdings while developing its South African heavy rare earth mine. Its market capitalization is roughly one eighth the size of Molycorp at the present time.
Great Western has its "wall of worry" to climb just like Molycorp does.

Silmet is an excellent private rare earths processor with a long track record which gets most of its feedstock from Russia's Kola Peninsula.
It would be great if Silmet generated an IPO since it has to be noted in part that Estonia's stock market was the hottest of the European stock markets last year.

There are a lot of Australian rare earth stocks to choose from. They are gaining market share within the general mining sector even if they are risky to hold.

China has definitely dominated the world's rare earth separation expertise. But slow but sure Australia is gaining on that.
Arafura Resources has a working relationship with the Chinese. It has also been receiving technical assistance from the Australian government on those separation capabilities.

OMG, relying on your knowledge of the Outback:
Might you know anything about Datamotion, the neighbor to Lynas in the northeast of them? They keep comparing their deposit to Mt. Weld. It sounds as though they are angling to get bought out by Lynas in some way.

  • Key Indices Point to a Stronger Economy and More Inflation [View article]
Much of the data values reflect overseas demand for goods and services instead of traditional domestic demand because of increasing globalism. That is one reason for the stagnant unemployment levels. Therefore, the graphs are not painting a rosy scenario hastening the prospects for an economic boom anytime soon.

Your concerns are certainly valid. They are being talked about in the government circles and think tank symposia. Some legislation will eventually be crafted with those considerations in mind.
It will be interesting to see what happens next.
