  • Why Obama's Tax Posture Is Bullish For The Markets - Part II [View article]
"Individual taxes will not change investment behavior. If the best game in town on 100 million in cash is 8% with a 50% capital gains rate, that's the best game in town."

Anybody with that kind of cash is going to be able to change their residency very easy to get the best tax rate. The smaller player or middle class person is stuck with no way out.

Well I am a Father of 3 and I work in an industry where I come in contact with the middle and lower class, and I see inflation hurting them. Walmart has done more than any government program has ever done to lift the standard of living for the poor than all government programs combined. However Bernanke and Obama have helped the rich tremendously with the printing press.

AuCoaster, you are spot on. I wish these young kids would really study history outside of liberal academia.

We are the most indebted nation in the world? Seriously? Inflation only helps politicians that want to promise unlimited benefits to voters.

Wouldn't it be so nice if we could just raise taxes on the rich and the middle class would be fine. Next you are going to tell me that QE 1, 2, and 3 to infinity, ZIRP and Keynesian policies are working. What we need is a good dose of deflation, and simple tax rules that everyone follows. Some will make more, some will make less.

Did the economy really take off in 1991? Seriously? Were there any tax reductions in 1994 or 5? was there anything else that drove the economy toward that latter part of the decade? Next you will tell me it's Bushe's fault. Really now.

    Seth,
You article sounds wonderful. As a former Government employee I doubt that any revenue increase will go toward responsible payments such as the national debt. Nor will CEO's now in a personally higher tax bracket start hiring anyone. You are very idealistic, and it would be nice to narrow the wealth gap. Unions achieved it in the 50's, but now they have become the rich and greedy. So look toward another solution. I hope Obama gets his way so we can disprove it. But you know I have a feeling unless he gets 100% his way, there will be the "it's Bush's fault" crowd coming to the rescue.
