  • Earn 8% Yields With Calumet Specialty Products Partners, Rated B2/B+, Matures January 2022 [View article]
Is there a reason to go with this rather than the unsecured senior 9.375% maturing earlier in '19 if the company likely be solidly in the black in the next 4 years ?

  • Return Like A Stock, Risk Like A Bond: 15.5% CAGR With 17% Drawdown [View article]
One can imagine a realistic scenario when long Treasuries (TLT) is down as in a hyperinflation period as in the 70s and when stocks (SPY) dont perform, which would seem to be a double whammy to this trading system ? Has anyone done the above modeling with the twist that at a certain threshold or DD, everything will go to cash ?

  • The True Yield Of Your Bond Investments [View article]
Hmm, I am confused to the true yield of this fund: if you look back to fund's inception, it has steadily gone up from approximately 80 to currently approximately110 over 4.5 years which roughly annualizes to a 6%+ gain; the steady rise in net value of the fund is slowed: in the past 12 months its up from 107.5 to 109.5 (1.86%) in addition to the "true yield" of 2% or does your true yield include the gain in net value of the fund? So what is the true current yield?

  • Skullcandy Institutional Ownership Ready To Create Short Frenzy [View article]
Pls read carefully before calling others names: I did say that ZAGG is not unprofitable, and despite that, can drop even for the CEO to have to step down, I just want to warn that not highly shorted protitable shares are safe longing. Be careful !

  • Skullcandy Institutional Ownership Ready To Create Short Frenzy [View article]
I see what you are saying, but investing in these situations is hardly risk free. SKUL down almost 6% today in sympathy with ZAGG which is also a not-unprofitable electronics accessory company and also with a high short interest ratio of 7m+ shares (16 days to cover), which plunged today down 13.3%. Of note, it is believed that even the CEO of the company succumbed and lost out to the "shorties" and was forced to sell half a million shares of ZAGG's shares from a margin call, and this morning the news of his stepping down triggered the sell-off. Traders play carefully !

  • Aspen Holdings Preferred Shares Look Particularly Attractive [View article]
What to you make of Aspen's 3.31.09 announcement to sell more (1.22m to be exact) of its common shares to raise funds for repurchasing 1/3 or 2.6 million shares of the 7.4% Pref'ds? It seems that the company's offer price for the pref'ds is $12.50 which is around what it is trading for?? It is a little bizarre to try to think who might want to sell with such a yield and if the company is going strong as if you have pointed out? Any insight??
