Recently I rented Ford Fusion for a week and was pleasantly surprised. I am now considering buying it to replace Grand Marquis.
Also, I took this week a long initial position in F.

  • Update: Facebook Strengthens Possibility Of Becoming An ISP  [View article]
I remember when Bill Gates promised 60 satellites to cover the whole planet and provide internet signal to everybody.
Is this idea, this time by Facebook, just another pie in the sky?

  • BlackBerry Passport Beating iPhone 6 In A Recent Poll  [View article]
Few weeks ago, a Bell Canada serviceman came to my house to fix Internet problem. The cell phone he was using looked exactly like BB Passport. I failed to ask him about the make of his phone. Probably a test version of Passport. I think Passport will be a big success in Enterprise.

  • I Was Wrong About Apple  [View article]
This stampede of Apple bulls is unprecedented, and telling. I will stay out of the way, but after the 6 is released I will be watching for signs of blow off. It will be easy to take a short position with clear stops.
Thank you Mr. Blair for the article.

  • Boat Naming Help Needed  [View instapost]
Thinking of how much work goes into rebuilding a boat I would name them:
    Total Insanity I
    Total Insanity II

But more seriously, I like this name:

I noticed that athletes at Olympics, celebrities at Oscars and people at the boat show, they all used some other brand to take selfies and not that tiny Iphone. The Apple Iphone myth is broken, and I believe MB is right.

Sky, for dividends received within TFSA you never recover 15% paid to IRS, and you cannot claim foreign tax in your tax return.

Clients were net buyers across the materials sector (XLB), but reduced exposure elsewhere. After steadily accumulating the stock for months, clients turned net sellers of Apple (AAPL). Other tech names seeing selling: MSFT, CSCO, INTC. Notable buying activity: TSLA, BRK.B, KMP, VALE, LINE[View news story]
Well, I am a TD client and I did buy INTC. hmmm...

  • 1 Ounce Of Gold And A Decent Men's Suit  [View article]
I agree with you that ounce of gold will again afford you just one "decent men's suit." I just think it would take some time.
These days gold should be selling for about $350 per oz. And here is why. Back in 1966 my salary was $7000 a year, gold was $35 and I was actually paid 200 ozs of gold. If I were employed now in the same job, I would be making $70.000 a year. So, 70.000 divided by 200 comes to $350 per oz. Also, back in 1966 I could buy two cars for my salary and these days with $70.000 I can buy two cars. I used to rent an apartment in 1966 for $170 per month, and these days in the same building apartments rent for $1700. Since 1966 the most of stuff went up in price by a factor of 10. Gold is way overpriced, and it should come down to normal level. It might take some years to reach the salary target of 200 ozs of gold per year. But if that job all of sudden gets paid $700.000 a year, then gold could settle at new normal of $3500.
When I look around, the only thing that went up faster then 10 times is land. Of course, they don’t make it any more, and prices will outpace anything else ad infinitum.
