Semi retired engineer and economist. Real estate and construction background. Now managing my own retirement funds. I am slowly learning the ways of ETFs and CEFs. This seems like the way to go for investors like me. You can even build your own hedge finds using ETFs and CEFs ... whatever that means.

Education: Brown University - Engineering. Harvard University - economics, finance and government.

Fall asleep at night dreaming of cost spreadsheets, critical path method scheduling, net present value / discounted cash flow calculations. It may take me years to once again dream about trees, plants and flowers. This is payback for years working in the engineering - economics fields. Ouch and double ouch.

Work experience: 40 years in real estate, construction, net present value / discounted cash flow WORLD. Real estate deals in US, Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, South America. Now semi-retired. Now involved in management of self directed retirement funds.
Major interest in investing: ETFs and CEFs and High-Yield investments for retirement income with some appreciation. Philosophy: nice solid 8%+ yield needed in retirement. If my ETFs and CEFs appreciate, also nice .... deal with that when it happens. If the depreciate, also OK as long as the dividends keep rolling in. My daughter can deal with the depreciated assets in 40 years or so.
