Art Cashin: Correction Will Be Clear by Next Friday [View article]
I watch CNBC with the volume set on mute and only turn up the sound when Art Cashin and Rick Santelli speak, the rest of the time I send that endless stream of jibber jabber to the audio drain pipe.
The San Francisco Fed on the Effectiveness of the Stimulus Plan [View article]
I am always delighted at the ability of Americans to inject comedy into situations that they find nauseating. "Turbo Tax Expert", I like that but I prefer the moniker used in my circle, "Rat Boy".

So we should not be afraid of federal interference in health care because Obama has promised us that no harm will be dealt to people who work for a living and pay their own way. Isn't that the guy who promised that if we elected him president he would eliminate "earmarks" and then signed his first budget with over 9000 of them included? Why do I not believe?
Green shoots, yeah, I saw some last night, my wife had asparagus for supper. No inflation ? I want to find out where Ben does his shopping for groceries.
Uptick Rule: Correlation Does Not Imply Causation
[View article]
The uptick rule is much ado about nothing. In fact what should be done is the elimination of short selling all together. Short selling is like whole life insurance, nothing but another form of stealing that has been honed and polished for decades to the point that it almost tastes good going down..
The U.S. Financial Structure - Why Nothing Is Really Changing [View article]
Mark, great article. modern American has enjoyed so much undeserved prosperity so quickly that we have lost the collective memory of our origins and the principles that have brought our nation to this point of so much material wealth. We have become totally self centered and no longer remember the price our forefathers paid in blood and pain and suffering to allow us to reach this place. We will not be bothered or reminded that the goods and services we crave have to be paid for with "labor" unless it's someone else's labor.
Asia: The Mother of All Incumbent Advantages [View article]
David, a very fine and truthfull article. I have lived long enough to see giants returning from Europe after defeating Hitler, and turning this country in the best promise the world has ever known. As I enter into the sunset of my life I see that great hope cast into the trash heap and this land turned over to a gaggle of deadbeats, educated on MTV etc, who only want to grab as much for themselves as they can before the ship sinks.
What China Gains from Bailing Out Hummer [View article]
Sir, your article is right on. While the bunch of cabbages who presently are inshrined in the seats of power of the United States dream of turning this country into a carbon copy of the Old Soviet Union and enslaving this nation's childern and their future in a sea of unpayable debt, the clever Chinese are doing all the right things. As a child who was born during WW11 and grew up walking among men who were heroic giants, It is all I can do to keep my sanity in a day when people think they can have everything they want without having to work for it, by simply electing the right people to public office.
A Case for Hedging with Gold Against Inflation or Deflation [View article]
Anyone who has lived in California's "Peoples Republic" and watched it's slow, arrogant, and deliberate march into hell could have seen it. This is long overdue and well deserved.
Why the Silver ETF Has Been Sterling [View article]
In the early eighties when we had the last great inflation panic, Gold went up less than four times while Silver increased five times. If you think we in America are in for a repeat of Lindon Johnson's runaway printing press as I do, then Silver is an excellent investment.
Current Rally: Are We in May 2003 or May 2008? [View article]
If people cannot learn to sell stocks when prices move South, then they are doomed to lose all their money. The only great rule in stock investing that you need to know is to never ride a bad buy down.
