The enormous advancement in the biological sciences that is taking place has begun to change the traditional way of practicing medicine. Far-reaching biological products are being approved and news about breakthroughs are occupying the media headlines. However, selecting the biotechnology firms for investment requires not only an understanding of the company's finances, but also deep knowledge of the company's potential and the potential and scientific validity of it's products and technologies.
Our Mission is evaluating biotechnology companies, their products, their technologies, scientists, managements, as well as their finances. Our goal is to impart our readers with the knowledge and insight so that they may have a heightened understanding and appreciation for the biotechnology industry.
The Prohost Letter has been in circulation since 1992. Our readers are comprised of venture capital, fund managers, investors, medical professionals and individuals with one common interest, biotechnology.

I am an individual investor and the author of seven eBooks on dividend growth investing. I try to help self-directed individual investors profit from stock investing. I contribute articles and studies to both Seeking Alpha and Daily Trade Alert. I hold an undergraduate degree in physics from Holy Cross College and a JD from Georgetown University. My wife Sue and I live in beautiful Canandaigua, NY.
Graham Summers is Chief Market Strategist for Phoenix Capital Investment Research, an independent investment strategy firm based in Washington DC with clients in 56 countries around the world.
Earned a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Pittsburgh before deciding to switch gears and pursue a career in the financial field. I went on to earn an MBA, also at the University of Pittsburgh.
I worked for nearly three decades in the investment business, including nearly two decades with Charles Schwab & Co. While at Schwab, I worked both as a broker and as a trading supervisor.
While at Schwab, I wrote the daily pre-market opening update for the entire MidAtlantic region. This task was given to me because of my vast knowledge of and years of experience in researching all markets - stocks, bonds, currencies, commodities and international markets.
After leaving Schwab, I became a fulltime investment writer. Currently I write five articles a week for two prominent investment newsletter websites.
Ari Paul is a former options market maker and commodity trader for Susquehanna International Group (SIG) and ran a proprietary treasury product portfolio. Ari is currently an MBA student at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, as well as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
Articles from this account may also be written by Ari's long-time friend "alpha", a California based portfolio manager who prefers to stay anonymous.
Don’t need to know who I am. My identity will remain anonymous. I am well educated in Economics and Finance, and I have extensive global work experience in Asia, Europe, and North America. My overall purpose for this blog is to cut through the BS, and provide an independent, unbiased, and objective viewpoint. This does mean that I am willing to “throw a punch, rather than holding back,” especially against flawed established norms.

I have a Ph.D. im Political Science. My father and I together worked on a new clean energy source for 30 years. I have worked on it for the last 10 years with some excellent hydroelectric, mechanical, aerospace, and automotive engineers. The revolutionary system model right now works for 15-20 minutes. We have a final design after 8 tests. We need additional funds for a better quality prototype model that can be transformed into a production system.
I have been a college professor at a major university and former national security advisor. I have spent a small fortune and many years developing some of the very technologies that the President mentioned in the State of the Union Address. I own the advanced turbine system for the production of electricity, control the copyrights and proprietary sysytems for much of the future of information technology through knowledge-based systems, and have swing control of the stock in a high tech energy company. I have developed nad saved these technologies for now.
In summary, I am very unpopular with people, nations, and companies that want to maintain the status quo.
The year was 1967 and his Dad was in Vietnam. Since his birthday was September 11th, he wasn’t old enough to go into first grade with most of his buddies. Suffering from timid shyness and a distinct stutter, Michael Ham burst into tears of terror at age six, when he learned he was selected as a weekly cast member of television’s Romper Room series.
Obviously, Michael overcame these obstacles as he now speaks to thousands, confidently with a natural charisma that entertains and inspires. From meager beginnings in South Dallas and the “baby and first in his absurdly large family (his mother was the eldest of 13 siblings) to attend and graduate from college. Michael has “wiz-dom” that is remarkably humorous and insightful in today’s unique sales environment. After college, Michael Ham trained on Wall Street in 1988 with Smith Barney and built a Million Dollar book of business, while achieving honors, accolades and awards. He was the top new account opener his rookie year and worked the old fashioned way, by “earning” his way up to Executive Director with CIBC Oppenheimer.
His successful system is built around communication skills and simplicity in his marketing approach. The lion’s share of his success was gleaned from making cold calls and learning how to use language via voice to disarm charm and assuage his “audience of one.”
Michael paints a flowing picture with visual images and relates how being “conscious” and in the moment when making a presentation; as if you’re on a stage, prepare perform and produce your product to your audience. He makes it simple. His stories of real life sales calls and experiences are hilarious and motivational. Following his instruction, you can’t help but be amused, ready to rumble and not afraid to fail…
Michael ventured out after the World Trade terrorist attack and founded a successful business model for his independent practice. Almost ten years later his model is consistently profitable, viable and simple for others to follow. Layered in Michael’s presentation are drills for skills in leadership, perseverance, memory retention and assertiveness learned from performing both athletically and musically on field and stage in his youth.
Learning how to “act” to attract is key to Michael’s proven method of success. He has invested well over a Quarter of a Billion Dollars for his clients and has written over $150,000,000 in annuity premium in both fixed, variable and equity index annuities. Michael used life insurance as a tax free retirement plan for his own personal pension and has endorsed permanent life insurance for 20 years.
Like he was mentored by athletic coaches, music instructors, stage directors and a Fortune 500 CEO, Michael takes the practice of “paying it forward” to heart and to another level. He has trained and mentored hundreds of successful investment advisors and agents.
In addition to writing a monthly column for The Senior Market Advisor (a national magazine) Michael is also a published Author for the popular book, The Women’s Investment Guide, a Member of MENSA since 1986, as well as the top producer at his broker dealer’s firm the past two consecutive years.
Since his TV debut as a child, Michael has appeared on the Dallas, TX ABC, CBS and FOX television affiliates. He has been praised for his financial educational work by The Dallas Morning News and was the business reporter for KEWS, (the CNN Dallas radio affiliate.).
Michael's work earned the endorsement of celebrity William Shatner and he received the Keeping America Strong Award, presented by Navy Rear Admiral Kevin F. Delaney. Using his prospecting system for fund raising efforts, Michael earned the Platinum Award presented by the American Cancer Society and was named as one of Texas Monthly Magazine’s Five star Wealth Managers in 2009 and 2010. He is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA). Getting people and teams to work together in collaborative ways are truly a gift Michael possesses and passes on to his audience freely.
