  • 2 Stocks To Buy, 2 Stocks To Sell, Weekly Outlook (February 4-8, 2013) [View article]
Like your LNKD short idea, picked some up yesterday. They are so beyond overvalued... Only thing that worries me is the market is pretty much insane right now.

  • Why Amazon's Share Price Will Keep Rising [View article]
FCF means nothing if only a fraction of a percent is YOURS!
That is like the Groupon argument (we have 200 Mil in cash so we are a safe investment) buuuut we owe 175M to our suppliers, its not your money if you just get to run it through your pipes and collect pennies at the end...

The only way for AMZN to extract more money is to raise prices, which they wont be able to do for fear of losing the only argument they have left, growing revenues.

OK... AMZN can make money any time they want... but they just hate money so much that they would rather lose 40 mil than make it? Lots of companies have HUGE CAPEX projects on a YoY basis, look at Intel, they spend 12-14b a year BUT still earn money and STILL pay a dividend, of course their net margins are more than 10x Amazon's.

Of course we are talking about a mature company vs a start up. oh wait... amazon is 13 years old and still not earning any money.

I would like to raise my price target for AMZN shares to 600$ this year based on 4 main points.
    1. Amazon generates a lot of revenue!!
    2. Amazon has a lot of customers!!
    3. Jeff Bezos is a GOD!!
    4. Because i stayed a holiday inn express last night!

Lets hope I am wrong.. short amzn April & July puts @270,265,255.

  • Why Apple's Plunge Makes Sense [View article]
I am looking to buy around 400-415$... if you think apple is going back to 300$ you are nuts. The stock is even undervalued at current levels. I may buy some long term calls.

  • Amazon: When Will This Bubble Burst? [View article]
I love that logic. that is exactly what i thought when i looked at the stock....

Amazon lost 39 MIL last year - you would be hard pressed to find many companies on the exchange who did the same without having their shares decimated.

Most of their cloud resources are GIVEN AWAY FOR FREE to customers!!! I think amazon would need to be earning 10 B to justify its share price. and it has proven it has no shot at doing that any time soon.

So pretty much you admittedly have blinders on when it comes to evaluating a solid investment vs. one with a high level of risk. A company who does not earn a profit yet commands such lofty valuations is inherently riskier than those who MINT MONEY (XOM, APPL) I think AMZN's stock is at an inflection point - AT SOME POINT profit has to matter - and yes people have been saying this for a long time. It could be 1 year it could be 3 months. At some point there will be a correction, albeit not the crash and burn 200 pt drop most the bears believe but at least 60 - 80 pts.

Revenue is strong but slowing... Profit has been anorexic and shows no signs of growing at any foreseeable pace...

I know a lot of people who thought WorldCom and GlobalCrossing had nowhere to go but the stratosphere. All bubbles end - the real issue is the timing of the end.

I have taken out puts on a bet that it may take a little while longer for people to get tired of waiting to see them turn a profit.

Amazon investors have their HEADS in the clouds so to speak... Once the big guys stop buoying the stock with the wild volume, the little guys will be left holding a bag full of air

I am shocked how long it has taken as well... We deal in manufacturing machinery and until about 2-3 years ago never had any sales tax inquiries, it seems like every-time we have something that crosses the border into FL they are calling to make sure we are paying the sales tax.. States are money hungry and it will not take long for they to jump on board with California and demand AMZN to charge sales tax.

I think AMZN's best hope for profit growth is the subscription and media sales. I buy a lot of music on AMZN via the PANDORA link - it works great and I love the cloud player... I am a member of Audible (audio book subscription), I am a member of Prime as well so I watch movies on my PS3 and XBox.

I don't honestly know why they feel the need to be in EVERY business. How much money can you make selling 4$ Razors? probably a lot less than selling a Nikon SLR. I think a slimmed down company focused on the digital side of things could become a profit machine - much like how iTunes has been for apple. Not sure if I would want to go up against WMT on the "every day" items. They have proven time and again to be a fierce competitor who generally crushes its opposition.

  • Shopper Beware: Buy Anything At Amazon Except Its Stock [View article]
I disagree, revenue growth is slowing, and as much as you think "the heavy cash investment period is behind us" it is not... Sure building distribution networks is expensive, but they are adding employees like crazy, and there will be a whole new round of costs to deal with to keep growth at the rate you describe above especially with added pressure from eBay and WMT.... I would own WMT or WFC any day of the week over amazon - why not own rational companies with mature platforms, reasonable P/E, dividends, and stable share prices. I feel the downside to either stock is VERY MINIMAL, if Amazon continues to slow, look for a drop similar to Apple's with MARGINAL at best upside at these prices...

I love how people are saying AMZN's valuation is reasonable because IF the stars align and pigs fly in 8 years they will be at a reasonable p/e and be making 2.5% margins, that's a BIG IF! Unfortunately we live in the present and if you can't justify the P/E or for argument's sake the FORWARD P/E with your current numbers theorizing the future really makes no difference.. They have yet to prove they can gain market share while increasing profits, what is going to change? Are the magic profit fairies going to land and bless them with real margins?? If anything their prices will be under even stronger opposition from the likes of WMT and Target.

Do what Jeff Bezos is doing, sell now, you will have a much better buying opportunity in the near future.

Amazon hires tons of people plus empowers people to be their own bosses. Talk about raping employees - look no further than WMT.

I love amazon - Prime is awesome!

But the stock and valuation are not sustainable. amazon - 120$ by end of the year!
