There might be reasons to be negative on JPM but the private equity arm is not one of them!

  • WSJ: Electrolux gains momentum in bid for GE appliances unit  [View news story]
It just seems when they sell off profitable businesses they seem to do so at or below market. not at a premium.

I felt the same way... ge wants to be out of any type of consumer business... seems like the appliance business is profitable so not sure why they feel the need to exit.

  • Why Qualcomm Greatly Outperforms Intel As An Investment In The Technology Industry  [View article]
my thoughts exactly... I personally bought 7 computers in the last 2 months. Had not purchased any for the prior 3 yrs. Maybe I am an outlier but I think people are realizing a tablet is not a computer... I see PC sales flat or maybe up as people start to replace aging machines.

  • The Amazon Fire Phone Will Probably Do Even Worse Than Expected  [View article]
IBM such a stretch its his largest HOLDING!

no my friend.. WB likes to invest in companies that print money, not blow it!!!

Amazon is a wonderful company for the consumers but at some point (i am no fortuneteller) investors will feel the pain.. when the market turns on it - it will be swift. I have prime and buy loads of stuff on amazon and at the same time amazon probably loses money on half my purchases. Who can deliver papertowels 2day for free at less than costco prices? amazon! LOL

What is GREAT FOR THE GOOSE is DECENT for the GANDER when it comes to NLY.

stock down 6 bucks over past 2 years

    .60$ dividend now .30$

Give this woman a pat on the back. We as investors are like street corner children begging for 2 shillings. The company is designed to make the inside rich, and the outside complacent enough to not question why we are not getting a bigger piece of the pie.

  • Build A 'Whatever Happens' Portfolio... Now  [View article]
AMEN BROTHER.... I have learned the only thing i am good at when it comes to investing is picking good companies at good times.

trying to time when a company will melt down has literally never worked... amzn nflx lnkd have all taken some of my lunch money - and i am not afraid to admit - i thought one day Mr market would wake up and notice the same thing i was seeing "darn these companies are severely overvalued, all the goodwill in the world couldn't justify these prices" but that was not the case!

very good points. either commit to sell or commit to hold. but in the middile is where you lose your shorts... my parents who had a sizable nest egg ~6mil had approx 50% invested in american funds per the advise of outside council. While the world was melting down they asked me what they should do, I explained they missed the opportunity to sell at the beginning of the mess and that the best choice would be to stick it out. My dad had trouble sleeping with that thought and went ahead and sold at a 55% reduction in capital. Every single one of those funds is in my Roth and has rebounded to decent profit. If it was a good investment its worth to hold it.

  • 5 Undervalued Companies For Defensive Investors Close To 52-Week Lows  [View article]
maybe its just me but those charts (minus BBBY) alll appear like they are forming a top not a bottom.

I own 2 of them JPM and CVX.

I do agree 100% with BBBY it might even be a good entry point now. My wife and I are having a baby (BBBY also owns buy buy baby) and i cannot explain how expensive and how darn packed their stores are... I could see them having some great quarters ahead I feel i probably helped.

I am also going to look at adding HCP into my Roth.

    good article thanks!

  • Annaly Capital: When The CEO Buys $1 Millon In Shares, I Listen  [View article]
you could only hope. but the fact is we are in a very viscous cycle where these people feel they deserve to make 30M a year for a job that is worth 2. the fees they charge investors are outrageous. if these came down there would be another 5% in the dividends!!! but in bad times they will make the same and the investors will take the hair cut... I have always thought CEO pay should be based retroactive, so a year after they get paid a bonus based on those earnings and the current financial position of the company. it would eliminate the focus on the "right now" short term risky profits.

i think they will know how to side step the political issues... XOM's motto - MONEY ABOVE ALL.

    Long XOM, COP, RDS

I personally feel RDS might have largest upside in integrated oil and gas sector

those items are variable so it is much better to pass them along to the leaser. plus normally the person renting is not familiar and you can slip them in - only later do they realize how much all that costs...

all of my industrial property we do what is called an "all in" lease where buyer pays one sum and we pay the triple net portion, i find it more transparent.

  • Why Can't Google And Amazon Just Get Along?  [View article]
What about the fact that GOOGLE actually knows how to turn a profit??? That is one pretty divergent fact.

The fact of the matter is amazon has a very small number of profitable streams.

Google's pipeline is flush with cash that they can spend dominating other markets.

I lost my ass using that logic... There is no logic behind AMZN's stock price only faithful blind supporters who would follow their faithful leader Jeff Bezos into a burning building. This stock is an anomaly to me, I love Amazon and their customer service - bar none some of the best. But they never seem to make money and the way things are going it seems like they wont for a very very long time with his plans of world domination in mind. don' t get too deep in short territory - this stock is a short killer.
