  • Intel promises Broadwell PCs will be available by holidays [View news story]
Because every merger and acquisition works out so swimmingly!

They are so non progressive that they literally ARE the leading edge of the semiconductor industry. As someone who works in the industry - intel is anything but boring and not progressive. it just seems that way because they totally own an industry it can appear as they are just going through the motions.

Have you given any thought to why they promote from within? Because it is much better for a company of Intel's size and complexity to put someone who actually knows and understands the process... Or maybe they should bring in some flashy CEO from outside to run it - that always works so well - wonder what Carly Fiorena or Ron Johnson are doing right now?

  • Wal-Mart And Target Both Win Right Now [View article]
I am watching and waiting for the right time to jump into target.

I follow a unique investment strategy. I don't buy companies I don't or would not consider giving my business to. Walmart falls into this. Their store is cluttered, full of the trash of the earth spending their gov't slush fund. On the other hand target is a much cleaner more inviting store. would love to pick up some more in the low 50s.

  • Ultra-Low-Risk Retirement Strategy For Folks Who've Saved $1 Million [View article]
I don't think i could ever stomach paying over 18K a year in taxes.. my 450k house is only 4400$ a year!

Does anyone buy real estate? We have snapped up 3 commercial properties over the past 5-6 yrs that pay great returns, our business uses them for a while and we quickly outgrow them, we pay them off in 2-3 yrs and keep and rent them out... one of our buildings we paid 450K for is bringing in over 65K this year. It's paid off so there is not much risk - if it does go vacant we can wait for another renter but they have been there for over a year now... My goal is to have around 20K a month in income in retirement, 7-8K from real estate (already doing more than that but just to be safe shooting low), 10K from DGI (about 35% of the way there..) and 3.5K from the divs in my 1.5m whole life policy - paid in full at this time... i am only 31 but I had a great lesson in high school about compound interest from an economics teacher, started my roth when i turned 18. This is a subject lacking from education nowadays!!!

so time to start dumping more money into the DGI portfolio.

I don't want to wait for retirement age to start living my life. Looking forward to a sustainable mid 50s retirement age.

Most landscaping firms don't last 3 years? In my area - central fl, its impossible to find someone who does a good job at reasonable price. I got quoted 300$ for my 3/4 acre - i bought a mower and bank that 300$ every month.

I owned a landscaping company through college, it was great. I had about 50 accounts and could do all my work in 3 days. ended up netting about 5-6K a month and more in the summer when we did big planting jobs. Fact of the matter is the down on yourself attitude will get you nowhere.. This is the land of opportunity for people willing to work. It is hard just finding people who show up on time every day devoid of drama!

Highest STD growth rate of anywhere in the country. All the old folks getting freaky... with a stat like that it's got to be a fun place to live right... nice golf courses and not too far from the coast. i am probably 1/3 the average age up there though.

  • Is AT&T A Good Investment Over Verizon? [View article]
Simple answer - Verizon > ATT...

Better services, better margins, established base who LOVE THEM (myself included), most of the people i know are stuck with ATT because they went to the IPhone a while back... But we will see how it plays out...

My interest lies with FIOS roll out, and the purchase of Intel's web TV division.

  • The Fresh Market: Opportunity In The Sell-Off? [View article]
TFM sells very similar Organic foods to WFs. They have literally sprouted 3 or 4 more locations in my back yard. (organic free range chicken, organic veggies, etc....)

I know this article is old but I personally think they are going to rebound well. All the new stores around me are PACKED.

  • Ford Steamrolling Into March [View article]
well thought out comment. I think the one thing that everyone seems to be missing is this is the first major refresh on the F150 in at least 3 or 4 years. I for one am going to buy a new truck this year and was almost sold on buying a new Sierra but I am going to wait to see what the new 2015 F150 looks like once it rolls out. I know a lot of people doing the same. If the launch goes well I could see demand exceeding capacity for the new truck which will also mean higher margins. I was not impressed when i compared the 2014 F150 to the Sierra - the ecoboost claims better mileage but do any research and you see people in real life are getting nowhere near what they claim - the non turbo larger displacement 5.3 and even the 6.2 get better mileage in actual tests and towing. I hope ford has an answer to improve the mileage in the new 2015 F150...

    Long Ford.

On another note just finished reading : American Icon: Alan Mulally and the Fight to Save Ford Motor Company, anyone who holds shares in Ford should give it a read. Makes you feel good about owning shares and the direction they are headed.

Sometimes the momentum of a company is not immediately reflected in its share price... Q1 should be strong for Ford and should bump the share price!

  • Yes, The Nasdaq Bubble Is Definitely Here [View article]
All you have to do is look at the crazy acquisitions facebook is making to realize we are headed towards a bubble. 17 BLN for whatsapp??? it was valued at between 7-9BLN so why the need to pay 2x the already inflated value (they make virtually no money), they just did the same thing with instagram. What is wrong with growing organically like APPL?

I hold MSFT, INTC, and CSCO, but am not a huge fan of the rate MSFT acquires companies to make up for its own shortcomings.

  • Verizon: One Of The Best Dividend Stocks? [View article]
I would be interested to see what verizon's plans are (if they go through with it) of purchasing Intel's TV division. If they could find a way to broadcast the FIOS platform over high speed networks it would greatly reduce roll out costs - in my area we have been begging Verizon to run the lines needed to get FIOS up and going here.
