  • Ford Steamrolling Into March [View article]
well thought out comment. I think the one thing that everyone seems to be missing is this is the first major refresh on the F150 in at least 3 or 4 years. I for one am going to buy a new truck this year and was almost sold on buying a new Sierra but I am going to wait to see what the new 2015 F150 looks like once it rolls out. I know a lot of people doing the same. If the launch goes well I could see demand exceeding capacity for the new truck which will also mean higher margins. I was not impressed when i compared the 2014 F150 to the Sierra - the ecoboost claims better mileage but do any research and you see people in real life are getting nowhere near what they claim - the non turbo larger displacement 5.3 and even the 6.2 get better mileage in actual tests and towing. I hope ford has an answer to improve the mileage in the new 2015 F150...

    Long Ford.

On another note just finished reading : American Icon: Alan Mulally and the Fight to Save Ford Motor Company, anyone who holds shares in Ford should give it a read. Makes you feel good about owning shares and the direction they are headed.

Sometimes the momentum of a company is not immediately reflected in its share price... Q1 should be strong for Ford and should bump the share price!

  • Yes, The Nasdaq Bubble Is Definitely Here [View article]
All you have to do is look at the crazy acquisitions facebook is making to realize we are headed towards a bubble. 17 BLN for whatsapp??? it was valued at between 7-9BLN so why the need to pay 2x the already inflated value (they make virtually no money), they just did the same thing with instagram. What is wrong with growing organically like APPL?

I hold MSFT, INTC, and CSCO, but am not a huge fan of the rate MSFT acquires companies to make up for its own shortcomings.

  • Verizon: One Of The Best Dividend Stocks? [View article]
I would be interested to see what verizon's plans are (if they go through with it) of purchasing Intel's TV division. If they could find a way to broadcast the FIOS platform over high speed networks it would greatly reduce roll out costs - in my area we have been begging Verizon to run the lines needed to get FIOS up and going here.

  • Verizon: One Of The Best Dividend Stocks? [View article]
People that chose to use verizon (myself included) do so for a reason. I know I pay a premium over T Mobile and other budget carriers. What the premium provides me is almost perfect coverage - i would estimate i have 3 or 4 bars in 99% of places I go. I have a few business counterparts who use AT&T and T mobile who drop calls religiously while we are on the phone. I am willing to pay the premium for premium services. It reminds me of how everyone said apple wouldn't be able to keep their prices and margins and with every new IPAD or IPHONE release were proven wrong time and time - people will and do pay extra for better service.

I think verizon's real moneymaker in the next 5 years could be rolling FIOS out to more areas. I am so dissatisfied with BrightHouse (TWC) in my area if they came here i would switch in a second. I know most of my neighbors would as well. I have been adding religiously for 5 years and will continue. The white noise about the debt doesn't effect my feelings that Verizon has the best network and the most loyal customers (due to superior coverage and services) they will continue to grow and earn a hefty profit.

  • ConocoPhillips: Showing Exxon And Chevron How To Run An Oil Company [View article]
have been buying 1500$ blocks every month for the last year. so far very pleased with management and the stock. it has been a good buy!!

    your analysis seems spot on!

I was buying XOM as well but trimmed that back to buy more COP.

Overall XOM has been stagnant for years - the buybacks hardly tick the stock. They need to take a lesson from COP. Personally I think that XOM's reluctance is an EGO thing about being the most powerful and most valuable (well apple and xom trade back and forth) company in america.

  • J.C. Penney: Who Should You Believe, The Bulls Or The Bears? [View article]
I heard Jeff Bezos was looking to buy JCP.

Wouldn't that be nice!!! But it too will go the way Kmart and Sears are headed, nowhere fast. Best thing investors could hope for is a short squeeze... I was in a JCP over the weekend and it was a ghost town. Even the employees didn't want to be there.

    not long or short.

  • The Hep C Race Is Heating Up: AbbVie Vs. Gilead [View article]
Out of curiosity, do you see this treatment being an earth shattering windfall for GILD?

What warrants the P/E of 44 of GILD vs 11 of ABBV? seems to me ABBV has more upside potential at the moment...

Bubble 2.0, twitter, nflx, fb, lnkd, tsla, chipotle. if we see a correction these will tank.

somehow amazon will be spared but that is because they are taking over the world, one profitless quarter at a time.

Tablets are toys. if you start with a tablet - you end up with a computer...

i bought a surface tablet thinking that would be my travel companion... well 3 weeks later i am holding a macbook air - with surprise surprise - one of the most efficient processor combinations on the market. Intel i5! Flew from LA to Korea and the battery ran out 11 hours into the flight, what a change from my AMD powered lenovo notebook!!! that is pretty darn amazing.

  • Exxon Shareholders: Stop Whining About Dividends [View article]
XOM has been fairly stanant since i started buying it over the last 2 yrs. I know in the end my patience will pay off. I was also buying COP during the same period and have already experienced 35% gains and very healthy dividend. Guess that is why diversification is key.

Is it just me or do the buybacks not seem to affect the share price much??

  • Intel's Time Is Running Out [View article]
To my knowledge they mothballed a building not a fab.. At this point they have the facilities cost sitting there but the true expense (equipment inside) of the fab has not been deployed yet. Could be they have the capacity for a few flat or slow growth years and are waiting for the next generation of process equipment to fill it with. Or maybe they are run by the dumbest people in the world and they were ramping up PC chips while the bottom was falling out...

I was contemplating selling at 27$ - wish i had taken some of the chips off the table as I am over-weighted in this stock - luckily got into it in the 18s...
