  • WSJ: Electrolux gains momentum in bid for GE appliances unit [View news story]
funny how things change... used to be their main business but I see that it does not fit in with the direction they are headed... other industrial companies have successful appliance divisions - Bosch?? I just don't see the need to give it away... While I like alstom's products and synergies, the compromises that had to be made to get the deal done seem to make the deal less attractive.

I felt the same way... ge wants to be out of any type of consumer business... seems like the appliance business is profitable so not sure why they feel the need to exit.

  • 5 Undervalued Companies For Defensive Investors Close To 52-Week Lows [View article]
maybe its just me but those charts (minus BBBY) alll appear like they are forming a top not a bottom.

I own 2 of them JPM and CVX.

I do agree 100% with BBBY it might even be a good entry point now. My wife and I are having a baby (BBBY also owns buy buy baby) and i cannot explain how expensive and how darn packed their stores are... I could see them having some great quarters ahead I feel i probably helped.

I am also going to look at adding HCP into my Roth.

    good article thanks!

  • Why I Prefer Chevron Over ExxonMobil [View article]
i think they will know how to side step the political issues... XOM's motto - MONEY ABOVE ALL.

    Long XOM, COP, RDS

I personally feel RDS might have largest upside in integrated oil and gas sector

  • Tesla Will Become The Victim Of Its Own Success [View article]
I am right there with you!!! I see the biggest plays being in the materials not the companies using them! I have owned SQM for a while (up about 12%) but i could see this stock doubling easy.

The auto market is a roller coaster - who knows what the big names will bring to market. but their ability to scale these products gives them large competitive advantages over TSLA.

  • BlackRock Kelso: Why We Went From Bear To Bull [View article]
Thank you for your article. Imagine my surprise when i was able to complete reading it even with a couple minor errors! Thank you for the hard work and good info. have bought this many times over the years and have cost average of 9.10 in my roth - mostly due my DRIP always seeming to find a high point to buy at :) i like the stability and the management of this company.

  • Yes, The Nasdaq Bubble Is Definitely Here [View article]
All you have to do is look at the crazy acquisitions facebook is making to realize we are headed towards a bubble. 17 BLN for whatsapp??? it was valued at between 7-9BLN so why the need to pay 2x the already inflated value (they make virtually no money), they just did the same thing with instagram. What is wrong with growing organically like APPL?

I hold MSFT, INTC, and CSCO, but am not a huge fan of the rate MSFT acquires companies to make up for its own shortcomings.

  • Verizon: One Of The Best Dividend Stocks? [View article]
I would be interested to see what verizon's plans are (if they go through with it) of purchasing Intel's TV division. If they could find a way to broadcast the FIOS platform over high speed networks it would greatly reduce roll out costs - in my area we have been begging Verizon to run the lines needed to get FIOS up and going here.

  • The Hep C Race Is Heating Up: AbbVie Vs. Gilead [View article]
Out of curiosity, do you see this treatment being an earth shattering windfall for GILD?

What warrants the P/E of 44 of GILD vs 11 of ABBV? seems to me ABBV has more upside potential at the moment...

  • Exxon Shareholders: Stop Whining About Dividends [View article]
XOM has been fairly stanant since i started buying it over the last 2 yrs. I know in the end my patience will pay off. I was also buying COP during the same period and have already experienced 35% gains and very healthy dividend. Guess that is why diversification is key.

Is it just me or do the buybacks not seem to affect the share price much??

  • Intel's Time Is Running Out [View article]
To my knowledge they mothballed a building not a fab.. At this point they have the facilities cost sitting there but the true expense (equipment inside) of the fab has not been deployed yet. Could be they have the capacity for a few flat or slow growth years and are waiting for the next generation of process equipment to fill it with. Or maybe they are run by the dumbest people in the world and they were ramping up PC chips while the bottom was falling out...

I was contemplating selling at 27$ - wish i had taken some of the chips off the table as I am over-weighted in this stock - luckily got into it in the 18s...

  • Maintaining A Tactical Exposure To REITs And Other Dividend Paying Stocks [View article]
Couldn't agree more... I added to my holdings recently on fire sale... Added to AGNC and NLY, O, HCP, OHI

You can see how this works on days the dow fluctuates 100 pts., if it drops - my REITS are up 1.5-2%... Most are in my non taxable account so just DRIP the divs and let it ride. If we see a correction the REIT stocks will bounce and offset losses from others.
