  • Why Qualcomm Greatly Outperforms Intel As An Investment In The Technology Industry [View article]
my thoughts exactly... I personally bought 7 computers in the last 2 months. Had not purchased any for the prior 3 yrs. Maybe I am an outlier but I think people are realizing a tablet is not a computer... I see PC sales flat or maybe up as people start to replace aging machines.

  • Intel: Just How Much Capacity Do They Have? [View article]
But i thought the PC was dead? Can't they just buy Ipads and play games all day?

I just bought a new laptop with an Intel processor. I guess I am one of the idiots who cant get past how limited a tablet is for doing real work...Intel will hit 28$ by end of December.

  • Finally Sold On Ford [View article]
The union stood their ground in Alabama at Continental (formerly siemens vdo) when management (the pres of conti) came to them and said THIS PLANT WILL CLOSE if we do not get wage concessions - most union workers were making 25-30$/hr doing jobs that should be making 12-15$. They held their ground thinking they had the power, the next day the plant closure was announced and 4000 people lost their jobs. GO UNION!

  • Verizon: One Of The Best Dividend Stocks? [View article]
People that chose to use verizon (myself included) do so for a reason. I know I pay a premium over T Mobile and other budget carriers. What the premium provides me is almost perfect coverage - i would estimate i have 3 or 4 bars in 99% of places I go. I have a few business counterparts who use AT&T and T mobile who drop calls religiously while we are on the phone. I am willing to pay the premium for premium services. It reminds me of how everyone said apple wouldn't be able to keep their prices and margins and with every new IPAD or IPHONE release were proven wrong time and time - people will and do pay extra for better service.

I think verizon's real moneymaker in the next 5 years could be rolling FIOS out to more areas. I am so dissatisfied with BrightHouse (TWC) in my area if they came here i would switch in a second. I know most of my neighbors would as well. I have been adding religiously for 5 years and will continue. The white noise about the debt doesn't effect my feelings that Verizon has the best network and the most loyal customers (due to superior coverage and services) they will continue to grow and earn a hefty profit.

  • Time To Dump Intel From The Ultimate Sustainable Dividend Portfolio? [View article]
The issue with being an Intel shareholder is you have to have significant faith that Intel will post some big wins at the end of the year. This next line up of chips is what we have been waiting on for 2 years. I own a small business and for the first time in years I have employees requesting new laptops, most wanting Ultrabook upgrades such as the new Macbook air (10+ hrs of battery life) or new ASUS/Lenovo products - and the i7 is just the beginning for these products. The ATOM chips are the ONLY processor available in any of these devices.. I think we will see a resurgence of Ultrabook sales once the next round of Process/GPU technology is introduced as I know I am waiting to buy around xmas time. Intel is making their way into all the Microsoft surface tablets and based on my recent visit to best buy those have to be getting more popular (i had to wait 20 min just to play with the demo model i was interested in)... I think INTC's EPS and profit will start to creep up Q4 and Q1 '14. Their opportunities to capitalize on the NAND boom is there - now we just have to wait and see if they will squander that opportunity as well.

  • Why Caterpillar Shares Could Drop To $50 And Still Be Fairly Valued [View article]
If CAT ends up at 50$ that would make the DIV yield over 4% I would be a buyer of that stock, fact is I would be shocked if it breaks out of its 52 week low but it is on my watch list.

  • The Truth About The Impact Of Dividend Reinvesting [View article]
Varan, when coming up with a strategy, i looked at all areas - I decided on dividend growth. i took my top 25 picks looked at the intial investment compounded the dividends over 20 years and looked at what i came up with, that sold me on the idea. If there is one thing about the market that is true is that it appreciates over long periods of time and history repeats itself. this cannot be refuted. There are a few absolutes in life, people are going to need fuel (for any foreseeable future), Food, Band Aids, Medicine, Electricity, and no matter what these things will get purchased and these companies will earn money. Our country will continue to be the world's police and thus military contractors will make plenty of money to award hefty dividends.

I took my research made the investments in my top 25 which all but one have appreciated with great success over the past 4 years.

If more people took this approach then people would be retiring with sufficient income to last. not struggling.

  • Intel: Will The Dividend Rise In 2015? [View article]

Let them repatriate the cash at some absurdly low % - they will either invest in their US operations, Hire, Pay dividends etc. All would result in taxible events just not at the point of entry... Maybe we are missing something but it's money we would never see in the first place.

  • Fruit Fight: BlackBerry And Apple Going Head To Head In September And October [View article]
Not sure if there is any correlation here... We recently purchased over a million dollars worth of machinery for producing electronics from RIM in Waterloo. They have virtually eliminated all of their manufacturing capabilities as well as prototype equipment.

This is very common when companies are trying every which way to dig out of a hole. Very few succeed. It is amazing to see equipment that cost tens of millions selling for less than 20% a few years later. Scary times for RIM, their cash/debt keeps them safe for now but at at some point you have to make money, not just control costs.

  • When Should You Sell A Dividend Stock? [View article]
When Ford was up 40% people said sell, up 60% sell, up 80% sell... (based on my buy at 9$) if you are not comfortable in your investments put a loose trailing stop in but i prefer to let the runners run.

very true. Intel is the only one who has proven 14nm thus far. they will continue to lead and shore up their chip offering... intel should be a 30$ stock even with their current numbers.
