  • Annaly Capital: When The CEO Buys $1 Millon In Shares, I Listen [View article]
those items are variable so it is much better to pass them along to the leaser. plus normally the person renting is not familiar and you can slip them in - only later do they realize how much all that costs...

all of my industrial property we do what is called an "all in" lease where buyer pays one sum and we pay the triple net portion, i find it more transparent.

  • Why Can't Google And Amazon Just Get Along? [View article]
What about the fact that GOOGLE actually knows how to turn a profit??? That is one pretty divergent fact.

The fact of the matter is amazon has a very small number of profitable streams.

Google's pipeline is flush with cash that they can spend dominating other markets.

  • Update: The Fire Phone Flops Like A Dying Fish [View article]
I lost my ass using that logic... There is no logic behind AMZN's stock price only faithful blind supporters who would follow their faithful leader Jeff Bezos into a burning building. This stock is an anomaly to me, I love Amazon and their customer service - bar none some of the best. But they never seem to make money and the way things are going it seems like they wont for a very very long time with his plans of world domination in mind. don' t get too deep in short territory - this stock is a short killer.

  • Tesla Will Become The Victim Of Its Own Success [View article]
I am right there with you!!! I see the biggest plays being in the materials not the companies using them! I have owned SQM for a while (up about 12%) but i could see this stock doubling easy.

The auto market is a roller coaster - who knows what the big names will bring to market. but their ability to scale these products gives them large competitive advantages over TSLA.

  • Amazon's Sacred 7 Numbers Show It's Overvalued [View article]
Amazon - a company built on hopes and dreams..

Are these the same hopes the angie's list investors are resting their laurels on? "once we get to scale our profits will be huuuggeee" the issue is the world economy is huge and amazon wants to fight battles in every major space on the planet at once. online shopping, tech, cloud storage, now groceries... i was short a few times in amazon never managed eek a profit.

  • A Few Thoughts About The Intel Earnings Report [View article]
    You look correct Russ...

It was pretty much you and Asharaf that convinced me when i was having a conflict between holding and selling to keep the INTC stock I had held so long.

Now sitting with 77% upside in the stock - I thank you both for your insightful articles and knowledge!!

  • Just How Risky Is Dividend Growth Investing? [View article]
my thoughts on this as I am in similar situation - I max my roth 401K (up to 17.5), trade in my TD account, and then invest an additional 35K a year across 10 stocks that i intend to hold for a very extended period of time in a computershare account. I do monitor the stocks but just consistently put a few hundred in each every month so that i get to take part in any corrections - if i do see a major correction i will increase the deposit amounts. for pretty much all of these stocks they have no investment fees and no dividend reinvestment fees.

So the french would rather be in bed with the Japanese and germans... that worked so well in 1938....

Alstom is a strong company but to me their transportation assets seem more valuable than the energy assets.

  • Fruit Fight: BlackBerry And Apple Going Head To Head In September And October [View article]
The equipment the sold is still state of the art. very new vintage and in great shape....

Yes i have heard they are outsourcing. I always find that most of the highest quality products are built in company owned factories not outsourced.

the innovative product the Z30? lol that is funny....

now i do think their industrial applications as demonstrated in the new audi could be their road to riches.

  • Fruit Fight: BlackBerry And Apple Going Head To Head In September And October [View article]
Not sure if there is any correlation here... We recently purchased over a million dollars worth of machinery for producing electronics from RIM in Waterloo. They have virtually eliminated all of their manufacturing capabilities as well as prototype equipment.

This is very common when companies are trying every which way to dig out of a hole. Very few succeed. It is amazing to see equipment that cost tens of millions selling for less than 20% a few years later. Scary times for RIM, their cash/debt keeps them safe for now but at at some point you have to make money, not just control costs.

  • Intel promises Broadwell PCs will be available by holidays [View news story]
Because every merger and acquisition works out so swimmingly!

They are so non progressive that they literally ARE the leading edge of the semiconductor industry. As someone who works in the industry - intel is anything but boring and not progressive. it just seems that way because they totally own an industry it can appear as they are just going through the motions.

Have you given any thought to why they promote from within? Because it is much better for a company of Intel's size and complexity to put someone who actually knows and understands the process... Or maybe they should bring in some flashy CEO from outside to run it - that always works so well - wonder what Carly Fiorena or Ron Johnson are doing right now?

  • Wal-Mart And Target Both Win Right Now [View article]
I am watching and waiting for the right time to jump into target.

I follow a unique investment strategy. I don't buy companies I don't or would not consider giving my business to. Walmart falls into this. Their store is cluttered, full of the trash of the earth spending their gov't slush fund. On the other hand target is a much cleaner more inviting store. would love to pick up some more in the low 50s.
