  • CEFL October Monthly Dividend Will Be Sharply Lower, But Don't Be Alarmed [View article]
I don't know that they can do that as GGN is still one of the largest CEFs. Also, over 50% of that fund is in the oil and oil services sector (a sector that is not doing well at this time): http://bit.ly/QmjnNK. Its not just a gold fund and their objective is to provide high income through the use of leverage.

  • So Undervalued, They're Golden [View article]
Actually, Argentines (as opposed to their government) have been buying gold (and real estate when they have sufficient funds). Most have no confidence in the banks or their own currency and that lack of confidence is justified based just on the last 20 years of experience imo. Buying $US would also have worked although (not kept in a bank though), but those with $US (and willing to trade on the black market that is actually tolerated) would be ahead of those who bought gold. However, those who bought gold are better off than those who kept their money in Argentinean Pesos in a bank.

The betting was 80% on the No vote. The people making book know best the probable outcome.

You do need to recover the capital investment at some point, including a profit on said investment. Cost of a particle accelerator and all of the licensing and permitting would be quite high. And the Hg isn't free either. And Hg is shipped as HazMat, so those costs are higher. I don't believe $2,200 is anywhere in the ballpark.

But then again, maybe the EC can use CERN to make gold to help with their on-going financial problems.

  • El Pollo Loco: How Overvalued Is LOCO Compared To Its Industry Peers? [View article]
I'll wait for it. I'm looking at doing it like I did (TWTR), maybe a week prior to lockup expiration. Options provide a big gain for a small risk and you know exactly how much you stand to lose if it doesn't work out.

  • El Pollo Loco: How Overvalued Is LOCO Compared To Its Industry Peers? [View article]
StockGuy: I am surprised that you make this statement: "I don't think anyone has mentioned LOCO being the next CMG except you. No one believes that."

Henry is not the first, and imo he will not be the last to make that comparison. And as for "true believers", you only have to look at the comments sections under other LOCO articles to find them.

Anyway, I look forward to this running up much further so I can short it via puts as the lockup expires. The only way that doesn't work is if it gets crushed prior to lockup expiry.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: RBS, Lloyds To Leave For England If Scots Vote For Independence [View article]
Its just amazing to me how that aspect has changed. Christmas season used to start in October. Traffic is always bad in Lima, but the week before Christmas is absolutely the worst.

You might not recognize Aguas Calientes these days either. Now its Machu Picchu Pueblo, lots of new hotels & river walkways.

Cuy is good, just a lot of work to eat.

Christmas stuff started appearing in the stores here (Peru) before the end of August. Also saw it in Panama last week. Seems to start earlier every year.

Its a little suspicious, given that the economy is supposed to be growing. Both durable and perishable goods are not being transported by EVs; not yet anyway.

  • Armada Hoffler Properties: High-Yield Buy On Secondary Weakness [View article]
Volume is over 14X 10-day ADV (68,000) already.

Just curious, do you expect it to get below the secondary price thats been set? I find that usually happens with secondary offerings in the MLP space. But I've been following (DOC) and it hasn't dropped to the secondary price yet.

  • Why The Gigafactory's Fate And Tesla's Future Are In The Hands Of The Nevada State Legislature [View article]
Its old news that Panasonic will be participating: http://bit.ly/1qN0klU; although the amount of capital they will contribute isn't clear.

Also, here is a link to the last 10Q filing showing cash & cash equivalents at $2.4 billion. Please note that the 10Q is expressed in 1000s of dollars: http://bit.ly/1oBPDgM. If you include short-term securities, accounts receivable, inventory (which should be easily converted to cash), they have over $3 billion.

If not Nevada, then Arizona or Texas or even New Mexico along the I-10 corridor. Maybe a delay if its not approved in Nevada, but it doesn't stop the factory. There will be a state that will give them what they want in exchange for the jobs & a promise of future revenues.

You might want to check that August 14 date in the last sentence for the special session as well...

  • Summit Midstream Partners prices upsized public offering [View news story]
Okay, they are just reselling units that are already issued on behalf of the sponsor. With the units trading at an ADV of under 84,000 units, that makes sense. It would otherwise take a long time to sell those 4 million units.
