Thats an interesting purchase given that KSA is already feeling the effects of low oil prices and is delaying payments to contractors: http://bloom.bg/1PPJb5e

No, he is referring to the put and call option contracts. There is significant open interest on the Jan $20 calls with over 111,000 contracts still in place (100 shares per contract). His assumption is that MMs (market makers) have written most of those call contracts and therefore need to keep the stock price under $20 to avoid having to fill those (i.e., having to provide the 100 shares per contract at $20/share). Current price on those calls is about $0.67/share. Not cheap considering the current price is 16% below that $20 strike.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Media Buzz Hits The Street  [View article]
More than $1 trillion in US debt has already sold at an interest rate of zero: http://on.wsj.com/1LRZl8o. Some German debt was sold at a negative rate (5-year bonds at that): http://on.ft.com/1LRZl8p.
Its still hard to believe that there isn't a better place to park cash than guaranteeing a loss in value in negative-rate bonds. Back to under the mattress?

And BP is selling a commodity that is essentially the same regardless of the company producing it. VW on the other hand will have to win back customers for a differentiated product. That is another complication for them.

Better take a look at the distribution history for BX (which issues a K-1 btw as it is a partnership). The distributions are highly variable: http://bit.ly/1OSW7YE

The last four payments were 0.74, 0.89, 0.78 and 0.44 per unit. Distributions have been as low as 0.1/unit per quarter as recently as 2012.

If you are looking for dividend (distribution) growth, the BX REIT might be a better option for you.

Don't overlook that 25% of their business is in Brazil. Brazil is a mess and a recession is on the way there (if it hasn't already started).

Meanwhile, they made a new 52-week low today. I am thinking it won't be this year's low point either.

That is an ETN (exchange traded note) and carries some additional risk. UBS (the entity that issues the BDCL note) is not required to actually hold the BDCLs that the note is based on. You are taking on whatever credit risk is associated with UBS. And 100% of those payments are taxed the same as interest payments.

That was on August 24, and it went to $92.

Of course, many other large-cap, high volume stocks also made 52-week lows in that same "flash crash" event; and yet none of those trades were busted. I haven't seen anything regarding a follow-up investigation either.

I looked at my 1099 from 2014, the bulk of the PSEC payments were nonqualified dividends (approximately 94% of the dividends paid). The other 6% were qualified dividends subject to the lower tax rate.

Even AAPL went to $92 when that event occurred on August 24. It was so quick, I didn't even notice it happening. Thats what happens with computer algorithms doing the trading.

  • VEREIT - A Major Buy From The New CEO  [View article]
The dividend has been reestablished: On August 5, 2015, the Company's Board of Directors declared a quarterly dividend of $0.1375 per share for each of the third and fourth quarters of 2015, representing an annual distribution rate of $0.55 per share. The dividend will be paid on October 15, 2015 and January 15, 2016 to common stockholders of record as of September 30, 2015 and December 31, 2015, respectively. (that is copied straight from the press release on earnings).

We know the distribution will be suspended; so how much will that reduce Kolja Rockov's income? Probably a good move to hold off on the construction of the mansion.
