  • Wall Street Breakfast: European Investment, Failed Iraqi Election, Argentina On Watch [View article]
Very good. ISIL=Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant; ISIS=Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Depends on who is doing the translation.

Actually, Jordan now has a big problem with Syrian refugees. They have come into Jordan and many have set up their own businesses. They are not playing well with the Jordanians. If Jordan doesn't blow up this summer, it will blow up next year.

ISIL would like to incorporate Jordan into a new Sunni Arab Caliphate (along with northern Iraq and Syria). I don't think that will be allowed to happen, but it does mean the blood shed is nowhere near finished. And the US & Europe need to be very careful about who they are arming.

  • Seadrill EPS of $6.23 [View news story]
Current position was established at $35.37 average. Already collected a dividend of $0.98 and sold $36 July calls for $1.23. I'll likely be called prior to contract expiration on June 10 because I won't buy back calls at a loss; and I assume the contract owners will grab the dividend as long as the price stays above $36, which looks likely.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
The EC court decision is unconscionable. Censor away and take out any unfavorable information prior to elections. This is about reducing information available to the public. Interesting that there has been so much criticism of China's censorship and now this from Europe.

And I use TMUS for my US cell phone. Best deal out there for my situation.

WSJ yesterday quoted a "person familiar with the matter" that the Bundesbank might consider a negative rate on bank deposits.

To be fair, this was talked about in the EC back in November of last year and nothing has happened yet.

My guess is that they issued the statement reaffirming their policy in response to all of the inquiries they were receiving. Press & shareholders were probably all over them in response to that kind of volume increase.

Yes, it is very difficult to borrow shares to short. I know I've tried it. I think it has something to do with the huge demand for borrowing those.
