  • Carl Icahn Spells The End Of An Era At Apple [View article]
With 0.22% of the shares, he really doesn't have much leverage. Normal volume in Apple sees over $4 billion traded daily (even when the price was lower).

So is $1 billion really a big deal? No, its just Icahn's name. He has had a good run lately.

The author sold the calls and the buyer did not call his shares away to collect the dividend. In the case he described, the buyer will usually call the shares to collect the dividend prior to the option expiration date if he is going to finish in the money anyway.

Perhaps the buyer didn't have the cash to buy the shares and the author got lucky in the buyer only wanted to sell the calls to someone else prior to expiration.

Really, then maybe the people you know have already brought in phones for all their friends. How about people who are new to the privileged classes? Maybe they are now bringing in Apple phones.

I don't know how new that eye sensor technology really is. Canon's high-end digital cameras have had sensors that lit up with your eye movement to determine the focus point that will be used for taking the shot. This works while are looking through the view finder. You use this feature to focus on a specific object (center, center top, center bottom upper right or left corner, lower right or left corner). Thats been around at least since 2009.

  • Why Apple's Cash Hoard Is Not A Problem [View article]
I agree with the premise that the iphone 4S sales will show up big this quarter--as well as ipad sales, music sales, etc. I'm just saying that AAPL is down, at least in part, due to the misses. Its an opportunity to jump in for some quick gains on the next earnings report.

Yes, they did demonstrate weakness last quarter with revenues and earnings both coming in well below expectations. You saw the fall in stock price immediately upon the earnings announcement. No doubt the relative market is contributing to the decline in AAPL price as well, but its not the only reason for the decline in my opinion.

However, there were reasons for that weakness last quarter and I do expect this to be an excellent quarter for AAPL.
