Great article. I bought MSFT already and just bought CSCO as well.
I agree with your point of buying and "flipping" them over the next 12-18 months. If you pull up a five year chart on CSCO, a person could have "flipped" it on more than one occasion.
Newsletters: Gold Stocks Win Out Over Bullion [View article]
We can digest all the numbers and figures made available to us . However, there will come a point when you can throw everything out the window .
That would be when the "general public" comes into the market . I believe that many will simply want to click a mouse and buy the gold stocks, much like they bought the tech stocks during the tech mania phase .
In the meantime, I would suggest owning both the metals as well as some of the top tier mining stocks like NEM and AUY
If you believe that the price of oil is going to go up in the next couple of years , why not buy the stock ?
BP has the resources to take care of any legalities that it faces in the future . At some point they move off the front page of the papers , and if/when the price of oil does go back up in the next few years, this stock should move in sync with others such as XOM and CVX.
Testy Tuesday: Faber Says U.S. Treasuries Are Junk [View article]
We as a nation have gone thru many types of ordeal such as presidential assassinations, 9-11, missile crisis, depressions , recessions, and other events that could have broken our back .
We are still here, and at the end of the day.
1. The US Dollar is still considered a safe haven. (For now) 2. US Treasuries are still considered flight to quality investments by institutions and others. 3. People from other countries, still want to move here given the quality of life.
If I HAD to own treasuries today, I would just stick to SHY and TIP . Now if we get those 1980 TBOND rates of 15% and the world thinks the sky is falling, and we have reached the bubble in metals, then it might be time to go back up the truck .
Very nice picks. The only one I would disagree with is ROST . I like the company and the stock, but I think it would be better served as a capital gains story than a dividend story . Unless of course you are planning a large purchase .

I am going to "pay up" and purchase the Jan 2012 $17.50 calls. I don't mind paying the extra premium for time on my side.

The Treasury Bubble Blows On [View article]
However, for the foreseeable future where are investors going to put their money if they don't place it in the market , real estate , or gold?
I could see putting money to work in short term treasuries, either individual bonds or if I wanted to diversify , I would look at a bond index fund.
Personally, I am not a fixed income investor unless we can get those 1980 bond yields of 15% or better

Stocks for the Great Recession [View article]
I like the MCD pick , It may be a little expensive at this price . In my opinion, a more attractive entry point would be in the mid fifties.
I like CPB ,very steady, nice dividend. Again I might wait for a pullback . High twenties would be nice.
