  • Earning Dividends with International ETFs [View article]
The best way to check the yields on these funds is actually to go to the WisdomTree fund sites themselves. They also have a Dividend Yield Analysis link on the left side which is updated daily with the latest figures. Click that link, and you can also see the link to Distributable Income Report on the top of the Analysis page. This tells you the actual dollar amount and dollars (or cents) per share collected so far this quarter by each ETF. Basically WisdomTree gives you a TON of distribution information that Yahoo or SA does not provide so the yield is pretty transparent to everyone.

I agree with the above, but I want to add that using the trailing 12 mo yield isn't necessarily misleading. The changing yield is something to consider but this is completely expected due to the fact that the FX rates are constantly changing and WisdomTree funds have a higher turnover than say Vanguard funds because they do a bit of quantitative analysis when they rebalance their fund holdings. Having said that though WisdomTree funds would pretty much guarantee you better yields than similar funds from iShares or Vanguard.

  • Why Junk Bond ETFs Have Been Cleaning Up [View article]
Why not HYD as a middle ground fund? Its underlying securities are a couple notches above HYG holdings and has nearly the same after-tax yield for those in the average tax brackets.

  • 8 Foreign ETFs with Attractive Year-End Distributions [View article]
I'm glad WisdomTree moved on from annual to quarterly. The only good thing about a distribution is that it provides income, which is less desirable than capital gains unless you're dependent on the dividend stream (in which case you'd prefer quarterly distributions).

  • Japanese Banks: It Ain't So If You Say It Ain't So [View article]
"we just refuse to classify people who aren’t working as unemployed!" - this is what China does (and the US to a lesser extent), which is why you get unemployment rates of something like 5% If you ever visit China you know that's not even remotely true.

This is not the first smear article Asscensio posted about AOB. I won't be surprised if the author is taken to court.

Excellent article, much more sensible than the "dollar's gonna crash and inflation will hit 1000%" articles that's a dime a dozen on SA.

  • China Medical Technologies Still Stumbling  [View article]
The fact that they guided next quarter revenues below this past quarter revenues is seriously disturbing given the overall improving economic condition in China and the supposed relief from this "anonymous letter" annoyance. Maybe they sr. management should send some "anonymous letters" to its competitors to trip them up for a quarter or two.

  • Cramer's Mad Money - Paul Krugman Is Wrong (8/10/09) [View article]
It's kind of hilarious to read all this Cramer bashing. His show is supposed to entertain people but I guess some of you just find more fun in bashing the guy. Interestingly enough, his last CAT call was almost dead on. He said buy at low 30s (I think it was 32) back around June and that's where it bottomed.

  • Junk Bond 'Bubble' Defies State of Credit Expansion [View article]
You're comparing current junk yields to when there was absolute fear in the markets. Institutions were dumping risky assets on a daily basis, leading to these yields that were overly pessimistic. Additionally, even with 12.6% yield and an average coupon of 8%, you're talking about junk bonds trading at an average of 63% of face value. Senior secured debt holders should get more than that in case of a bankruptcy. It's still not that bad of a time to buy junk debt, although it certainly wasn't as attractive as in March.

Mr Zhang is absolutely correct. When earnings are inconsistent, investors discount the valuation, i.e. lower multiples. Perhaps the author could share his opinion on other Chinese stocks, like HMIN.
