You make some interesting points, but I too disagree. First, with Cisco getting into the server market, the whole landscape has changed dramatically, forcing the major players to re-evaluate their partners and go-to-market strategy. Second, FDRY is a very scrappy company that ever since 2000 and the dot-com bust, has done an excellent job growing in what was a middling economy and with an 800 pound gorilla as a competitor. I don't think that DNA is going away at Brocade. This was not the case with Ascend or Bay that had the luxury of the 1990's internet craze and then got swallowed by companies that in size, culture or management style were completely different. Third, there is definitely a "ABC" feeling among some customers, and Brocade has the opportunity now to tap into that. I believe that we will know soon enough whether you are right or whether the BRCD/FDRY acquisition was a brilliant move.
