Nice try, coming to the defense of analyst for just doing his job, even if it was an awful job for his clients, suggesting the possibility of chapter 11, as remote as it may have been. Using your criteria (anything can happen) I assume any analyst that suggested the same about broker dealers BSC, GS or other large cap financial like COF, WM, JPM would have been justified in doing so.......but they would have exhibited bad judgment. It was premature, and he deserves the embarrassment he is getting, while CFC, will thrive, probably restructuring, trimming back on cost structure and coming out stronger.
