Charles, why not let the free market decide. Why would oil get a pass and not silver?

Katgod, I agree with your comments. I don't really follow commodity trading too much so I don't know what most traders believe is appropriate but the additional margin needed to buy as certain things go up is somewhat ridiculous. They kept increasing it on silver when it had its last hyperbolic move. At this point, why would anyone own it, when they can go in the stock market without having to worry about that. It seems precious metals would benefit from a cataclysmic event. Not saying I want that though.

katgod, I think he/she is refering to the apparent whistleblower on JPM that was shorting a massive amount of silver paper. This apparently went to litigation, there is even a docket for it but I don't know whatever happened to it. And why would they do this? TO make inflation appear less, or to make people avoid precious metals and park their cash in the stock market. Don't act like statism doesn't exist.

zorrba, but when? I know when is irrelevant but I think I am overthinking this and blurring my vision but who says gold and silver have to go up? Why can't it be something else? Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want, but as long as the petrodollar stays, I can't see much changing. Russia, China, etc have been pushing deals outside of the dollar and at some point the dollar won't be the world's reserve currency. I would think this would be the tipping point but not for a long time. What does the US establishment do? Take everyone's gold again? I dunno.

crab, i know of the certificate method and forgot to mention that. I've always heard the cash account and certificates were the ways to go to avoid your shares being shorted. If you say the signing off on the application gives them the right in a cash account... would that be depending on the broker or are you saying its pretty much standard across the board?

Jeb, that is not true. If you do not want your shares shorted, you need to explicitly have a cash account.

Crabster, I don't have a problem with the idea of short selling. There are many tricks of the trade. 20 percent of traders are shorts. Stocks can be manipulated upwards too. MNKD is still not a 100 percent guarantee. I do take issue with the major manipulation in the markets though. And biotech is by far the most manipulated sector. If people don't want to deal with shorts, they need to buy high priced stocks that are solid companies, especially liquid. Manipulation is very low there. Taking on MNKD as an investment as many other low priced stocks takes balls of steel. The additional benefit of shorts is when a positive binary event happens, the short squeeze is on. What concerns me is these young bright minds coming out of top schools with degrees in computer science and finance and they go work for HF's as programmers to make money off of 1 to 5 cent swings. This provides absolutely nothing to society. In fact, wallstreet doesn't provide much to society at all. I would rather see people try to be an Elon Musk than a HF algorithm programmer. I laugh when I think of HF's with a T1 line right by the stock exchange so they can quote stuff, etc and move the market before retail sees it and then swing the other way. What a life!

  • Document Security Systems Inc. Is Poised For A Significant Rebound [View article]
I would have to agree with big D and Rick. I was a big fan of VRNG. Thank god I sold most on the RR ruling. I don't see Marpha posting on here anymore. He/She, got me to do more critical thinking with much less cognitive bias. It's pretty scary how fast it can manifest itself for anyone. Look at all the politicians who thought they were honest and justified their means for "honest work". I have dabbled a small positions in DSS and WDDD recently but I can't see myself going forward with anymore IP plays. It seems MM's dont value them the same way either. Not that I was a big follower of VHC, but the multiple it had for years compared to what VRNG received was skewed to say the least.

I've been asking people in the medical field but I don't know anyone with diabetes... I would love to know their view on the warning label and the lung function test. Are most people willing to do the test and take the medication right away or wait on it and see what happens to others? This may sound trivial but may also cause a buffer in additional sales. I have a feeling if things are fine, MM's won't get on the band wagon until after a positive review on MNKD patients 6 month review. And from there on a massive short squeeze. I have initiated positions in MNKD. But I have a feeling there will be plenty of time to add more at lower prices.

  • MannKind: A Very Favorable Risk/Reward Profile [View article]
Is this article to stop the bleeding? Face it, nothing will be known for about a year. I'm looking at the 200 weekly ma, for my next add. MM's have no interest in this stock until it proves it sales. From here until late next summer, it's just going to linger around here with spikes and drops along the way. There is absolutely no reason why the gap can't fill. I know most here are long term investors but you will be waiting for some time. The future forecast for people with diabetes is somewhat irrelevant. The current product offerings will change over time. Isn't there a startup bio that is working on something just like this but it will be vapor, not powder. Even if they can jump through all the hoops to make it successful, it wouldn't be looking for any type of FDA approval for several years.

what does dd matter when companies obfuscate the situation? I never owned this stock but was looking for a gap fill. The gap filled alright, lol and kept going! trading the market is full of land mines. While hindsight is 20/20, the valuation of gtat was that the six would have the glass. So an announcement that apple would use the glass wouldn't have been a huge move in the stock. I hope people took profits when this was in the 20s. everyone knows the phrase about bears, bulls, and pigs.

  • Walter Energy: Despite Weakness, The Company Will Have More Than $500 Million Cash At Year-End [View article]
I'm out today. I would have liked to stay in for more of a gain. But as we all know the market is manipulated. The rumor doesn't make any sense. Trying to make sense of it makes me think shorts are trying to get more retail in this stock before it goes even lower. Anyways, I will continue to watch these coal stocks. Cheers.
