  • Why Aren't The Dividend Aristocrats And Dividend Champions The Same? [View article]
Ok you're going by the pro rated cost basis I see what you mean now. Thanks for the clarification. Should have read that more closely.

    MO should be a contender.

    Altria 2008 dividend history:
    Q1 dividend - $.75 per share
Q2 dividend - $.29 per share (clearly a cut here with the spinoff)
Q3 dividend - $.32 per share (dividend raise did not increase back to $.75)
    Q4 dividend - $.32 per share

    Taken directly off Altria's website.

  • Why Aren't The Dividend Aristocrats And Dividend Champions The Same? [View article]
Why is Altria listed as a "champion" on the CCC lists, while Abbott Labs is not? Seems as though both companies cut dividends with their respective spinoffs... Has the methodology changed since the CCC lists started? If so, shouldn't the author correct it so that both MO & ABT are champions? Or they both aren't?

I fully understand why it is the opposite on the Aristocrat list.

Both are champions (in spirit) to me and I plan to hold each for a long time regardless of a list.

    Just curious

  • 'Overdue' Dividend Increases: Which Streaks Will End? [View article]
OK that makes sense. I don't follow TWGP very closely since I don't own it and it's not on my watchlist. Thanks for clearing that up.

I learn something new every time I visit seekingalpha. Great site!

  • 'Overdue' Dividend Increases: Which Streaks Will End? [View article]
TWGP already cut its dividend from $.1875 to $.165 per quarter. This was announced 07MAY2013, almost 2 months ago. Check their website for confirmation.

Thanks for publishing this series. I own COP and BWP off this list and will not add additional shares until I see an increase.

  • What Stocks Are Most Commonly Held By Dividend Growth Investors? [View article]
Some popular DG stocks not on the list:
APD, COP, GD, GIS, GPC, ITW, KMI/KMP/KMR, NNN, NSC, O, SJM

EXC should be removed immediately IMO. The dividend has been stagnant for years, plus it was cut recently.

    Hi Chowder,

I hold TD in my Fidelity ROTH IRA. I received a dividend on 31JAN2013 and nothing was withheld. It was exactly what I was expecting (subject to exchange rates of course).

I don't know about taxable accounts.

Haha I don't know how I found my way over here, but I had a good chuckle reading these comments. Haha, back to the dividends and income section where I can learn about investing (not speculating).

  • Is LTC The Right REIT For Me? [View article]
I own LTC and it has simply been a wonderful investment. My original purchase was in March '11 and I then doubled down in August '11 when it was trading in the low 20's (medicare cut scare). A few months ago I took some off the table at $37. I like this particular company a lot, but I would not buy it at $35!! I'd be more apt to sell some shares right now. If it goes back to $28-30, I'll consider buying once again.

Listen to the LTC conference calls, you'll learn a lot about REITs. I like the management team here, they are calculated and conservative. The debt load is again conservative, a huge plus. I would also note that LTC increased the dividend TWICE in 2012 for a total increase of over 10%. The monthly dividend checks are icing on the cake. Unfortunately this stock does not offer much value at the moment in my opinion.

Thanks for writing this article Brad!

  • Appreciating The Small Steps Of Dividend Growth Investing [View article]
    Hey DGM,

I agree that dividend growth investing starts out slow. At the beginning it is easier to second guess yourself because it takes a while to see results. After a few years of reinvesting and dividend growth it becomes clearer that the strategy is producing the desired effect.

I think dividend growth investing is a viable strategy but also has extra appeal in our current set of circumstances. Interest rates are low and dividend yields are relatively high. When the opposite is true I know I'll adjust my strategy accordingly. We have to take what the market gives us.

    Always enjoy your articles

  • 105 Dividend Champions For August [View article]
    David Fish,

Thank you so much for publishing the CCC list. It has been very helpful. I truly appreciate it.

I noticed a couple errors on the contenders list that should be fixed:
    1) UNS changed their name to "UNS Energy" they are no longer Unisource Energy.
    2) The latest Southside Bancshares (SBSI) increase was 16.7% because you have to take into account the 5% stock split. It's now $.20 per quarter up from $.1714 (not $.18, SBSI split before the new rate was paid). Reference: http://bit.ly/OG3CCo

Thanks again for publishing this excellent list.
