  • Dendreon: NeoACT Phase 2 Trial Data Appear 'Interesting' [View article]
Dendreon had a clinical trial for early stage Prostate Cancer patients called PROTECT. I don't know what happened to that trial. I'm skeptical about Provenge for early state patients. The price is too high and the benefit may be limited.

  • Why The Microsoft Partnership Is The Wrong Choice For Nokia [View article]
Nokia did a good job by launching Lumia phones in its strongest markets. Though the phone spec. and pricing is not competitive, the sales have been OK so far. The brand is still strong in Europe and Nokia really threw big marketing dollars on the launch. However, I doubt if it will be a game changer. Microsoft has been lagging behind Google and Apple in both devices and services for years. It is hard to see how it will be different this time. In addition, the deal is not exclusive for Microsoft. Microsoft probably just wanted to use Nokia to get Samsung and HTC on board Window Phone. For Nokia to win, Microsoft must gain market share from Google and Apple on Mobile OS, services, and contents. In the mean time, Nokia also needs to gain shares against HTC and Samsung in the Windows Phone arena. Don't forget the ZTEs and ACERs. I'm sure Dell will also make Windows 8 tablets. I'm not saying that Nokia can't succeed but the odds are against them. Though dropping Symbian was the right thing to do, betting on Windows Phone alone was too big a gamble.

  • The Dendreon Debate [View article]
Valid points though Dendreon's market cap has grown significantly even when share price is close to preapproval level. The set-back should be temporary. Though it is controversial to put such a high price tag on the treatment, the survival benefit and minor side effects can't be denied. No drug can reach 1 Billion dollars annual sales over night, Wall Street is just being impatient as always.

  • Oncothyreon: Phase III Unlikely to Show Survival Benefit [View article]
I owned ONTY since the days when it was Biomira. I agree that Stimuvax may not have survival benefit based on early Clinical trial result. This is different from DNDN which I also owned for a long time. Provenge had survival benefit in one of the P3 trials though OS was not the primary end point. The outcome of current Stimuvax trial is unpredictable while you had some favorable trial data to rely on for Provenge. Long or short ONTY now is a crap shoot. I wouldn't bet my farm on either side. However, I'm hopeful about ONT-10 due to the track record of the management.

  • Greece Will Default, The Only Question Is by How Much [View article]
EU doesn't want the Debt crisis to spread further. If they don't bail out Greece, investors/speculators will start to guess who will be the next. I don't think EU is going to let it happen. Let's not forget that money can be printed.

  • Netflix Back From the Dead ... Again [View article]
There are too many retail shorts in NFLX. An easy target for Wall Street to squeeze. There will be a turning point when real money can be made shorting NFLX, BIDU, and the like. Unfortunately, retail shorts won't be able to borrow shares when that happens.

  • Is Now the Right Time for Natural Gas? [View article]
Wall Street will have a different story for Natural Gas when gas price reaches $4 per gallon in US. People will change only when they feel the pain. If oil continues to go up at the same rate, NG won't be this cheap for too long.

  • Bubble in Shangri-La? [View article]
The Americans didn't admit there was a housing bubble before 2008. Alan Greenspan said there was no housing bubble. Even the Federal Reserve Chairman can't be trusted, why should you be trusted? Are you the governor of the People's Bank?
