How Many $BBRY Users Are Switching To IOS/Android? [View instapost]
We already know the market share of $BBRY from last quarter and the number of current subscribers ~79 million. So, given that $BBRY is saying that almost 1/2 or those buying Z10 are converting over from other platforms should give some hope. The results on March 28th should provide accurate picture of how many of those ~79 million customers was $BBRY able to hold and how many of those switched from BB7 to BB10 and how many new customers have bought into fresh BB7 contracts. Also, net/net total increase (if any) from the current ~79 million.
@Loon-a-tick - we know better than that when it comes to Winnie. Unsubstantiated news is just rumor mongering and we know Winnie is good with that. So lets just leave it at that and move on.
Alan, you are so bullish about $BBRY but you don't seem to invest in $BBRY. Is your business relationship with $BBRY preventing you from investing in this stock? You may very well choose not to answer my question but if you can then a response will be very much appreciated.
I also wanted to ask this same question to George Kesarios who is another SA author who is very bullish about $BBRY but hasn't as yet personally invested in it because of some business constraint.
Great Review Of BB Z1O W/ Explanation Of QNX [View instapost]
Thanks Michael for putting out this blog. Per my understanding, "The Indian Express" is a well respected establishment like "Times of India" - I am sure that the article printed carried by this newspaper will be read by a large audience in India. Indians are tech savvy people and I am sure they will appreciate and like the technical nuances of Z10 (and what BB10 has to offer). No wonder that the initial sales reports coming out of India are so encouraging.
I truly believe that $BBRY in the near future (by next year or so) is going to bring more exciting things to the market. As they say, "you haven't seen anything yet."
2 Stocks To Buy, 1 Stock To Sell, What's Next For The Market [View article]
well @shaned, let me be the first of the $bbry fan to start this of :)
Need I say that the author is quoting two of the analyst who have shown the least amount of understanding - one who just raised their estimates from 300k to 800k - by saying that since they had quoted those numbers blackberry has started selling in other markets (UAE, South Africa, Saudi Arabia) - so, in short, they think that 500k of those additional devices were sold in those other markets in under a month - wow! I will any day take that (and that they only sold 300k in UK and Canadian markets - does that add up in anyway?).
I think it will help to do your own due diligence - these analyst who are being quoted in this article have shown that they are ready to change on a dime. I guess people are smart enough to judge for themselves.
There is no other board on SA like Blackberry where I have seen people following a product with such passion - and that is a credit to Blackberry that its followers have stuck with it because they value the merits of that product. Enough said.
Lack Of Apps Not Necessarily A Deterrent For BlackBerry Z10's Success [View article]
@mamboman, I don't think Amazon will support bringing Kindle to Blackberry because my understanding is that Amazon is working on bringing their own phone to the market. The only reason they brought Kindle to Windows phone is because of their close association with Microsoft.
I personally believe that Amazon thinks Blackberry is a major treat to their ambitions; although, I think they will be better of displacing Samsung. Given Bezos past as being a hedge manager I won't be surprised if he is behind feeding to the current shorts.
As you are aware Amazon has taken a stable version of Android and are pretty much working on their own fork off of that (from the ground up at A126 Labs).
My guess is some of the shorts know this news and are embolden to short it further.

@TragicallyHip, how dare you provide a link to a news that is positive about $BBRY. If Forbes/WSJ/Bloomberg or our own Winnie/Marcap/BigThinker sees this news they are going to be very agitated (Winnie must be already walking over to all his/her clients and asking them to ignore this news as a non event). Please be considerate of those organizations/souls and don't bring such good news on this forum.
Can We Believe What BlackBerry Says? [View article]
Luke, I have never had a Blackberry previously so I won't be able to comment on this; but, if this indeed was the case, then I think we would have or will very soon read reports about Jackeey stealing data from BB10 based devices from our friends at Forbes, WSJ, Bloomberg loud and clear by now. So, Winnie can be certain that if that does happen with Blackberry its brand will be the first to be cited (and defaced beyond recognition) for this egregious lapse by our well trusted friends in the media :)

Winnie, how does running ported Android apps on BB10 bring in the Android App. Store into picture? and how does running a ported Android app on Z10 result in sharing your information with the developer? Second, even though they are ported apps they go through Blackberry's scanning process to ensure that they are secure.
If somebody ends up side loading applications on their Z10 then it is at their own risk - somebody may be able to provide detail on the restrictions that apply to side loaded applications (if any). I don't have a Z10 so I can't speak to that.
AFAIK, one doesn't run Android App. Store on BB10, you only run ported Android Apps. so there is no passing of information over to the developer.
@cereal, in India people do have money - actually quite a few have lots of it albeit it shows up in different colors - black, green, gray and white, gold, silver,... (others may be able to point out other colors as well :). I don't need to explain "black" money (and "gold", "silver" colors) we all know what each of those mean; "green" is the dollars that people tend to convert their money into (usually people who travel aboard and choose to keep their dollars rather than converting it into rupees - there are also people who use this vehicle (and gold/silver) as a means of safekeeping to preserve value); third is the "gray" component - this is money that people tend to make by submitting false vouchers (meal, travel, etc.); and, finally "white" is the money they earn as their base salary working in a job. These shades of money are quite common in Asian countries and the percentage relative to "white" can be sometimes as high as 60% to 70% of their total take home pay. Also, that is why you will see that India is one of the major buyers of Gold/Silver.
So, when you think (especially) India is poor think again - some have gone as far as saying that the "black" market economy in India is 3 times the size of their GDP (this is indeed mind boggling). I am almost certain that a lot of Indian politicians own so much money and properties abroad that they will make Michael Dell look poor - anyway, I digrace...
I can almost bet you that quite a few of these 43k sticker price Z10s might be getting paid outright in cash. A lot of Indians will pay money on something that will bring out both value (in terms of its use) and status.
Some of the Indians on this SA board might be able to either attest or refute my claims.

@cereal, why is that? Given that BB7 phones run on Verizon's network why does this certification have to get delayed on every launch? Could you please share some details?
