  • 4 Reasons Windows 8 Will End Apple's Market Share Growth - And Why Apple Shouldn't Care [View article]
    Not even close.

Windows 8 is a jarring, confusing mess for even sofware developers. It pissed me off trying to use it; along with the who dev team I work with.

OSX takes 1-2 days to get used to it. I did it and LOVE it. My DAD did it and loves it. It lead him to get an iPhone 5 recently.

THE BIGGEST COMPANY in the world uses OSX 100%. Apple. So you just lost that argument.

Guess what Pixar and Disney uses as well?

Guess what any creative professional uses?

Guess what the software company I work at uses? We all use macs and log into servers to do development.

    So you are wrong!!!!

I believe Windows 8 is a monster flop.

The Surface is a failure, the Surface Pro is Dead on Arrival (price)

Windows 8 is worse than Vista. No one wants it. I work as a software developer and we all didn't want to upgrade because its a confusing nightmare.

Not one of us would be interested in upgrading on any home machines if we had PC's. Instead most of the company over the last few years has slowly moved to Apple MacBook Pro's and OSX.

My dad, brother, sisters, everyone is moving over to MacBooks. People want something nice, not the junk of the past.

  • Apple: A Look At The Chart, Historical Comparisons, And Academia [View article]
I'm not sure I understand this article at all; it's lacking in substance; The stocks you compared Apple to, have VERY significant reasons they fell. The fact they were trading at astronomical PE's without profits to support. Companies like Microsoft had large market share in their primary products.

Why not focus on AMZN? or GOOG? They both have very high PE's in comparison to AAPL.

Apple has a lot of reasons it will continue its path:
    - a very low PE; 11.22 I think currently; $510-$130 cash per share = $380 for a company making $44+ a share in profit per year and paying a nice dividend. Without growth it pays for itself in 8-9 years, right? I think they'll add well over $10 to that cash pile in Jan, they will increase earnings again, and soon increase their dividend.
    - still low market share in the markets they compete in. Still growing their world-wide presence
    - They don't blow their money on unwise purchases
    - I think they show they are constantly innovating and make tough decisions to do the right thing
    - A marriage of liberal arts and their technology products
    and much more

  • Apple: 45% Upside Potential [View article]
It's crazy to think they blew out earnings last year with the iPhone 4S and this new model is much better. Who knows how many it will sell. (yeah I want a bigger screen, thats about it) I've had every iphone since release; ATT is giving a $200 early upgrade discount and I'm selling my phone for $380. Ordering tonight!

  • Apple Goes For Samsung's Throat: New Complaint Targets All Samsung Mobile Devices [View article]
This is just ridiculous. Apple products are known for their reliability. They create stores so they can talk directly to the consumer (where the hell do you go to have Android OS problems fixed? is it the hardware or software at fault?) They always treat me great at the stores (I've been to stores in US, Japan, and London)

So you broke your device and you want a free new phone? Ridiculous to blame Apple for a problem you created. No manufacturer would fix this. None. Apple goes far and above anyone else (from my experience)

  • Apple's P/E Ratio Rising - How High Is Too High? [View article]
I've thought more about it and I think my current strategy is the best for me. I'll sell all my shares at $695 if we get there (I've been waiting many years), and buy back my IRA shares if I find an opportunity (which always seems to arrive with patience)

I loved that Andy Zaky article. Just a bit scary to hold on when we are in uncharted territory. (or where few have gone before)

We'll see! I could change my mind.

  • Apple's P/E Ratio Rising - How High Is Too High? [View article]
So this article got me thinking about PE and so I charted out the next two earnings release prices at different PE's.

I'm hopefully safe at assuming $42.5 grows to $45 and then $49.

What PE range do you all think we will see? Think the dividend will keep it up?

I've went through many ups and downs over the last 4 years and considering selling my large group of shares at $695, but I know there's a good chance I'll be missing out on $58 in 2013; just a long year of many ups and downs. Hard to be patient. Market cap is big, PE is now up at 16.

    Thoughts?

  • Apple's Win Over Samsung Is A Kick In The Teeth For Google [View article]
That looks nothing like the iPhone at all. The Samsung lawsuit is different. What icon did Samsung use for their photo app? A yellow flower. Ridiculous.

  • Why I Wouldn't Trade Apple Right Now [View article]

  • Why I Wouldn't Trade Apple Right Now [View article]
Lets look at some numbers I've plugged into the next 3 quarters for "fun": $13.87 (Q1; already reported) + $12.16 (90% growth for Q2) + $13.63 (75% growth for Q3) + $12.33 (75% growth for Q4). These numbers imply trailing earnings will grow to $51.99 in about 7 months. If we hit Q2's numbers in April, the story becomes more realistic. If Apple does indeed meet the Q2 number of $12.16, we'll have trailing earnings of $40.87 in weeks. 40.87 x the approximate current PE of 17.15 = $700.92. With cash considerations and knowing Apple has some surprises in store for us this year, I think $700 should be its current valuation.
