Good try! I think you have written the most erudite article about another fantastic voyage of the U.S.S. White collar crime. BUT, I think you haven't got the picture right (nobody except insiders do) In ten years when Oliver Stone does the movie, people will continue to argue about it. I think it just shows how inept the journalists and lawmakers are. I agree to hold the $25 bonds and wait for the inevitable "extension of the tender period" which has already been hinted at by the CFO on TV. For six cents on the dollar the feds could offer cash for the lot and save the day, but no, they have something else in mind. This worked thrice for me in the past: UIS and PCR and F

I think you have used way too many words here to not get to the heart of the matter. I am thankful to see you are thinking about the problems and saying things that will at least get people to see more of the "mystery" There could be some books written about "who screwed who in 2008" Maybe you should team up with Erin Avelund or Helaine Olen or Oliver Stone. I am completely infuriated but somehow not surprised at the lawlessness of it all.

Is there a followup mechanism here? Will you receive notice of my reply? At the time this occurred I simply sold my F-S holdings. What Ford's strategy is, can only be guessed at by you and me. I think I am able to envision myself as an insider and so I would always have this security continue on as a great vehicle to carry my family and friends' money around. I have owned four similar securities in the past.

lots of words here and really not the answers. Has anyone thought of the likely case where the economy returns to its true range (pre 1999). Has anyone here thought of WHY Ford has enacted this strategy? I'd like to give you my thoughts but I figure they will fall on unreceptive ears

I figure You are guilty of wishful thinking. You removed yourself from the financial arena so now your perspective is lessened not enhanced. The inside scoop on this company is known only by the insiders and I figure I have a good guess.

You have put your money where your mouth is and i admire that greatly. The waste and damage caused by the insanely complicated sea of white collar crime infested finance should be carefully disassembled by a grass roots vigilante group that you and I could head. We would of course need extraordinary powers and protection. Step one: find a Fed guy who can actually utter one adlib sentence without the word "Um"
this is the article with a record breaking number of comments!!! congratulations. Has anyone mentioned the other idiot factor?, USPS? those lame bastiches have almost killed selling low priced items on EBAY by raising the typical shipping cost from $4.50 to $7. The USPS has a strange anti-american policy of running the post office like a business. Postal service is supposed to be one of your benefits and rights. The government operates the military as a non-profit money losing mechanism, ditto the insanely stupid Corps of Engineers, so why screw the citizen further by having them spend countless hours and money to raise postage one penny on letters? I think the reply will be "it's Congress's fault.

wow! you aren't too familiar with how the banking business goes. I doubt you have a clue about capital requirements and capital as a factor in many valuation ratios. Yes it is difficult to write about something that you are not up to speed on? Still, if you are trying to be evocative, you are doing something somewhat useful.
six months ago I had accumulated only 23 out of the 25 trades minimum for powertrading platform there, so I have not traded much in my etrade account. I guess I am just lucky. But etrade is dumb in losing my business. You can't rightly crucify an outfit for being stupid, but that's what Citibank did to them. I don't think the thousand words you have expended in this article has done any good towards reversing the damage that Citi did. Is it proper to attack stupid people?

Yours was a nice article with many obscure points that I can show my fellow investors. Would you mind slimming down the article in the future? The energy saved could help your overall investing performance. With clues like yours from good sources I scaled completely out of all my Ford holdings in the first week of Feb. Are you one of those buy and hold investors? Please keep your auto articles comming my way.

I could not find any mention by you of the various government (town county state) factors which contribute to excessive energy use. Many times laws and regulations are authored by not the brightest people with a correct sentiment and at the same time negative affects. Most journalist types steer clear of any factors that do not agree with the side of the debate they are on. Will I recieve an email about my comment/question or can I find your reply if any only on your blog? I would not take the time to comment on your article if I didn't find your blog intelligent and evocative. thanks

thank you for the sane commentary. Short covering action always produces the seemingly incorrect spurts in stock and commodity prices. Another factor which is behind the scenes but not mentioned because of the "crackpot" factor is the aims of the secret societies. Many of the popular topics which are named "issues" are probably decoys. As with the wooden ones decoys are often more beautiful than the real thing.
