  • A Bear Market Is Unlikely In 2015 [View article]
Completely agree - there will be no bear market until there is one. It will be a giant tussle as the Eccles folks roll out the giant economy sized Kool-Aid machine and position it correctly - straight into the maw of the beast.

  • Real Estate Is Doomed - Part 1: The Fed [View article]
"In theory, the US Treasury could borrow $100 trillion from the Fed. It would explode the debt to GDP ratio out to 1000%, but not necessarily increase risks for the US economy." This would be straight out of the Paul Krugman playbook - and just as loony no matter who's saying it. Does the government use any real economists, or just those that toe the line?

  • Why The Dollar Is Rising As The Global Monetary Bubble Craters [View article]
Yes, econ, that's my concern is that this is the perfect lead-in to a GCB. All we need now is for the pols and the bankers to stoke public fear so that they can "rescue" us all from the teeth of doom...

Gosh! Was there any GOOD news? How strong of a dollar can we tolerate? Good question-above-"how do you protect your wealth?" With the CBs manipulating precious metals 24x7, is there any safety there, at all? For the first time in a long time, I have a lot more questions than answers.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: All Eyes On Jobs [View article]
I've got a good one - about five years ago I asked 50 people in a row - of ALL ages - "In what branch of the Federal Government is the Federal Reserve?" I got 49 wrong answers. The ONE right answer was from one of my teenaged boys. Now, THAT's misdirection and obfuscation at its best. Very few people even know who's even running the government anymore.

When I went to school this was called propaganda. Now it's called The Magnificent Works of the Glorious Leader. We let our schools become bastions of socialist structure and function, filled with little college-trained Socialists that trained your children to parrot the party line like good little sheep. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind.

Over 31,000 men and women of science have signed a petition that completely disagrees with the govt's position on GW. Over 9,000 of those hold doctorates in science. Maybe the press hasn't told you about that one. Go look at petitionproject dot org to see it. I'm a man of science and all I see is political agendas that fund one point of view. Settled science? That's not science.

  • Will There Be Forced Official Sellers Of Gold? [View article]
You had me until the new engine that runs on water and gets 1000 miles to the gallon and produces drinkable clean water exhaust that I can sell at a profit...

  • U.S., Russia, Saudi Arabia: Who Is Going To Win In The Oil Price Stand-Off? [View article]
I do understand the frustration, and my recently crippled ability to game the market just proves that I can no longer properly channel a college sophomore. It's embarrassing, really... I may have to keep my money in private business.

  • Gold Is Asleep - When Will It Awaken? [View article]
These are mediocre days. I've seen way worse in my lifetime. The financial meltdown known as the S&L Crisis of the 80's and 90's was much worse, if you happened to live in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana or Mississippi. It was badly named (who were we protecting?) and was the result of oil prices going through the floorboards, followed by banks, jobs, S&L's, and real estate - pretty much everything. These are mediocre days.

  • Even The Woefully Underfunded Retiree Can Survive The Next Crash: Here's How [View article]
As a real estate broker, I can tell you that if Ma and Paw have held that house for 40 years, it had better be close to city center in a highly desirable city. Otherwise, the short ceilings, tiny garage (detached), the tiny bathrooms and closets, and bad insulation are probably not going to bring near as much on the market as you might have thought. If you're lucky to be near a desirable city center, you can probably sell for a very good price, even though the house is substandard by modern parameters. Some GenX couple that work downtown will probably give a king's ransom for it. BTW - I encourage buyers to buy exactly what they need, where they need it. Over-buying is just more of the consumption mindset that has contributed to the nation's gargantuan debt.

I should add that the current batch of bozos in D.C., while trying to stick their finger in Putin's eye, also get the exciting side-benefit of sticking it to TexArkLaHoma, where Conservatism has been raising its ugly head and the economies have been an embarrassment to Liberals, everywhere. Take that, Rick Perry! Now, see if you feel so smug about Texas' business climate. Northern bankers still know how to hamstring the South - just like before, during and after the Civil War. Plus ├ža change.
