Crude Reality: Big Oil's Purposely Restricting Supply [View article]
Wind and solar are wonderful ideas, except for one thing---the sun doesn't shine 24/7, and the wind also doesn't blow 24/7. Most places, it gets dark at night, and the wind also goes down after sunset. If we had batteries that were large enough to store a lot of energy, it'd be OK, but we don't. So---coal and nuclear generators will have to take up the slack during the time when solar/wind is not generating. The problem with that is that these type of plants take at least 12-24 hours to go from a low output to full generation. So, while the wind/solar generators are going full blast, the coal/nuke plants will have to slow down. Then, when solar/wind falls off, the coal/nuke plants will have to be ready almost instantly to take up the slack. That's a big problem that will have to be worked out. Also, in the evening when the sun goes down seems to be the peak time for electrical demand.

Their are very few facts that hasn't been distorted in yore article:
1. We actually don't know for sure how much oil is offshore or in ANWR. The Dems have blocked even exploration on these deposits.
2. The oil discovery in North Dakota, southern Canada, and neighboring states holds over 500 BILLION barrels of oil. Granted, it will be difficult to obtain it, but given good old American ingenuity, we will get it, and get it far cheaper than you libs would ever imagine.
3. The two oilmen in the White House are advocating that we drill, and drill now. It was King Bill Clinton of priapism who vetoed drilling in ANWR. It is N. Pelosi of San Francisco who refuses to allow a vote in congress, when over 70% of Americans want one.
