  • Real Estate Recovery in Southern California: Home Sales Increase for 16th Straight Month [View article]
16 months of year over year increases.....huh......
that means ever since July 08, home sales have been increasing in Southern California.
Since we are measuring year over year increases, that puts the lowest level at July 07.
Amazing..according to these numbers, the recession never ever came.....
or another way of putting it.....16 months of home sales increases, and we are still in a recession? whats going to happen if a downturn hits?

  • Why Oracle Should Leave Europe: A Look at the Numbers [View article]
So ...Oracle should take over a business, which generates 50% of its revenues from Europe..and then exit europe because the combined entity would have very few sales in Europe.
Is this the fault of sun or that of oracle?
Now let us hypothesize why Oracle is having issues in Europe. Is it maybe because of its biggest competitor being there? You may have heard of it, its called SAP.
So what should oracle do....should it fight SAP? or should it just concede over the entire continent, which as a combined entity is the largest economy on the planet. oh gee...thats a toughie....

  • The Worst Unemployment Losses Are Yet to Come [View article]
Considering it is already at 10.2, not going to stop going down for a couple of months......
and added that the BLS has admitted that something like 0.6-0.7% were not accounted for (up til march of this year, not counting further accounting issues for the following months) and that these will be added early next year, ..
this means that unemployment is already beyond the or nearing the 11% mark.
so bbro, your theory kinda fails at this juncture

  • Why Should Oracle Even Bother with the EU? [View article]
Excuse me? Did you just say that the lack of an IBM type company means that they should walk away from the EU?.
So the lack of a competitor makes a market unworthy of your esteemed presence?
And here i thought it was customers thta a company should aim for.....
oh no, lets leave out companies like :
Volkswagon, Porsche, Renault, Daimler-Benz, BMW, Airbus, Nokia, Ikea, Lufthansa, Easyjet, Bayer and god knows how many others.
No ....Oracle only wants to be where IBM is....they dont want to be where the customers are....thats old school......

  • AIG to Repay Taxpayer Bailout? [View article]

  • Dow 10k: The Higher They Rise, The Harder They Fall [View article]
You talk about opulent weddings in India. Or at least people do. How much does it cost to have a full fledged church service, with caterers and everything in the US. Id say it goes beyond a 100 grand? in USD.
id say that the average indian wedding doesnt go beyond 25-40 grand USD.
And gold buying binges? Its an asset class. Buying gold is viewed as a form of savings and investment. Same with Jewellery.

  • Will Apple Drop Google Search? [View article]
This is the problem with buzzwords. Ok...realistically ask yourself this question....
How often do you search twitter for microblogged real time updates about a specific item?
How often do you search google/yahoo/bing/ask/... for comprehensive information (which may or may not include microblogged real time updates from individuals) about a specific item?

At the end of the day, everyone forgets the bit where if twitter can search through its archives...google can too. Unless of course twitter gets a monopoly on all internet news, and everyone only posts on there...i dont see them overtaking google.
When was the last time you ever heard of a niche product overtaking the entire market share of a more generic service, that also provides the niche product.

  • Didn't Caterpillar Say Things Were Improving? [View article]
At least it is data. We can then argue whether it is useless or not.
You (amatuer) are not providing data and are merely wasting electrons.
In my opinion, there are very few, if not nil, business which do not show some seasonal trends. Unless of course you are talking about the utter basics such as Oil or Mining. (Anyone know if they show seasonal trends to any significant amount? I havent seen anything to show that).
In the case of a large company like Caterpillar, if they suddenly have bursts of sales in one month and then drops in coming years in teh same month, i would be very worried about their management and business model.

  • Spammers Want Microsoft to Change Outlook 2010 [View article]
Market losing software? Something that has gone from 0% market share to 20 + some odd % market share is a market losing software?
On the other hand IE which has gone from 95 or something % to about 80% or lower is a market share gaining software?

  • 'Buy American': What Goes Around Comes Around [View article]
So you are accusing a country that has an artificially suppressed currency (which acts as a natural barrier to imports), and has a million and one non-tariff barriers to imports, of merely reacting to protectionism from another nation?
Did you actually expect China, a communist nation, which is facing an overcapacity problem and a severe drop in exports (which is the life blood of its economy) to say 'please come....we will buy your goods at the expense of local industry'....
this is a rather foolish article

  • The Real Unemployment Rate? [View article]
"Sure, they may want to be employed full-time, but you don't always get what you want, particularly during times like these."

By that theory, the unemployment rate is 0%. How easy is it to rewrite that above statement as :

"Sure, they may want to be employed, but you don't always get what you want, particularly during times like these."
