  • Alon USA Partners Reconsidered [View article]
I am not sure about Ford discussions i don't follow Ford. I also stopped caring about whether people wanting to lose their money, its a personal choice. Like Sienfield said - if i lose money i tend to stop that activity....

All i'm saying is that historically this refinery has traded with $10 /share and it was at the time when crackspread was higher than what it is today. And even back then they omitted their distribution.

So I just put 2 and 2 together.

I disagree with .78/unit prediction. I think it makes no sense to whats going on in the energy sector.

  • 3 Highly Profitable MLP Refineries That Are Sound Investments [View article]
my sense the reason why they are going down and why banks keep downgrading them is because of the lower crackspreads. The "30%" is only indicated based on last distribution - try to price it to "omitted" distribution next quarter whats the yield then ?

in general though, i dont think gasoline or jet fuel is going to disappear anytime soon, people still need to use it to drive and fly airplanes. so the business model is cyclical. when they dont pay anything it blows - but probably a good time to buy.

last time it paid no distribution it traded around $10 so it has some room to fall. the oil price is not the issue here, the crackspread is. Currently its lower than their refining costs so plan for no distribution for the next quarter. Good luck.

  • Price Entry Point For CVR Refining For Double-Digit Earnings [View article]
yeah I sold my position, not waiting for the distribution - they recently announced the repairs might take until 28th and only partial start ...meaning in reality repairs can drag for a long long time. so yeah not taking any chances.
Plus it started to feel like market wants to go into a correction mode so probably a good time to wait before you pickup shares on a cheap.

    LOL - 244 , you are funny.

I think you wait for Thursday, they should announce a good distribution for this quarter maybe 1.10-1.20 range, full capacity operational and both refineries and no Winter effect.

after it starts to go up I think I will sell. I also think iCahn will be selling his shares out too.

  • StoneMor Partners: My Reason For Selling This 10% Payout MLP [View article]
This is what the CEO had to say:
"The increased distribution is a reflection of the strong performance we have generated and expect to continue generating as a result of the recent transactions we have closed," said Larry Miller, President and Chief Executive Officer. "As we previously disclosed, the acquisition of funeral homes and cemeteries from Service Corporation International was immediately accretive, and the integration of, and build-out of our sales force from the properties we manage under a long term arrangement with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is proceeding according to plan.

"With the strong performance of our base operations and the results we're beginning to see from these two transactions, we believe we should be able to increase distributions by at least $.01 per unit each quarter through 2015. Lastly, although we can make no assurances, with the addition of the recently announced investment from a private equity firm, we hope to continue the upward trajectory of the distribution beyond that timeframe."

    Any more questions ???

  • Price Entry Point For CVR Refining For Double-Digit Earnings [View article]
The crackspread is declining. This is bad news for refineries. I think it dropped back to September lows albeit recovering a little bit recently. It is very bad for refinery like ALDW. The only thing that is still working for them is the WTS/WTI spread, but they have switched their production input into more WTI which is kind of detrimental right now.

My other advice was sell NTI and Buy CVRR on Jul 7
so if you bot CVRR at 25.36/share and sold NTI at 26.88/share (depends on your entry point during the day) you should have made approximately: $3.21 per share - not bad for 2 weeks of trading. (July 25 closes : CVRR 26.43/NTI 24.74)

But at this point, I would probably be a little cautious with refineries here. I think Carl Icahn is selling for the same reason. This coming up distribution announcement will be better than expected in my opinion and shares should outperform. I think because CVRR is going to report earnings before NTI and ALDW it will boost those shares up with it. So after that I will think about reducing the exposure into higher prices without waiting for the distribution.

Also a note for the NTI holders: looks like their refinery had unit flares recently. So the refinery was shut down. It is currently unclear when it will be fixed so its hard to know, at this point, what their production will be for the third quarter but with lower crackspreads most likely we will need to revise lower.

yes , I don't know. I don't think market - any stock market makes any sense now. I'm thinking of selling my position and wait for better times after the correction happens. Everyone keeps saying correction is imminent so who knows.

just in general yeah ok maybe 3-4-5% - but I'm just puzzled if you're buying this for dividends why not buy the ones that have 10-15% distributions?
