Yes, DDD's numbers are good but still does not justify stock's sky-high valuation.

  • 3D Systems: Food For Thought... And Concern [View article]
DDD, SSYS and XONE have set themselves up as proxies for the entire 3-D printing industry! They want to confuse you to think that they are the industry. They are not. DDD, SSYS and XONE are just a few players in a very crowded and competitive field. Just because the future of the 3-D printing industry will be spectacular does not mean their own futures will also be spectacular. As your article indicated, there are other international competition and economic forces that can and will affect their future market share.
I don't like insider selling at DDD. If the future is as wonderful as they purport, they would not be selling. Seems like DDD is great at manipulating the price with splits, acquisitions, putting shares on the shelf and strategic press releases to increase the price of their stock. That's how DDD insiders are generating money for themselves. Research & development and selling printers are secondary. If there is a bubble, and if it pops, the insiders have already taken their money out. Other stock holders will be left out in the cold.

ur technical analysis is good. However, from an English usage point of view, calling CAN-SLIM a mnemonic is malapropism. CAN-SLIM is an acronym.

  • 3D Systems (DDD) -4.1% AH after filing a $500M mixed shelf registration. The company only says it would use the proceeds for either acquisitions or "working capital and general corporate purposes," which may include paying down debt. (S-3[View news story]
Why is DDD's management doing this? Didn't they know that it would cause panic selling? Now what?

  • More on 3D Systems: Along with the mixed shelf, the company is announcing a public stock offering to make use of it. $250M worth of newly-issued shares will be sold, as will 1.3M shares (current value of $53M) held by existing stockholders, "including certain officers and directors and their affiliates." Shares -4.7% AH. (PR[View news story]
It's only been since the end of February that DDD did a 3 for 2 split which caused the stock to go way down. Now they are doing this mixed shelf thing which will also depress the stock price because they are "inflating" the number of outstanding shares. I feel that I've been robbed!

  • 3D Systems: Bright Future, Dangerous Present [View article]
Consider the timing . . . It was a deliberate "conspiracy" of some manipulative people to drive down the price of DDD so that they could buy it at a lower price right before the stock split. For stockholders of record as of February 15, 2013, there will be a 3 for 2 split on February 22, 2013. This is an equivalent of a 50% stock dividend AND an improvement of the P/E ratio. That's why the "big boys" have been buying such huge quantities. Don't be fooled by the manipulators! DDD is an excellent stock.
