I think you can go for it. Keep the basics etc free as you do. Maybe just charge a premium for the extra. You can compensate yourself appropriately so that the subscriber still gets a good deal for the money.

  • Feeling Unfulfilled By The Volatility Tease?  [View article]
Every tick the market took higher really just made me more angry. Can we please just get a good freak-out already?

    Hi Nathan and others
do you find it strange that a 2-3% pullback is freaking everyone out whereas 2010,11,12 each had at least a 10% correction?

Market doestne even pullback 5% that everyone freaks out. I would think 10% a year would be normal if you seepast years.

  • VXZ: A Lower Cost Hedge/Less Risky Bet On Increasing Volatility  [View article]
Thank You. I believe it would just give some confidence to take a position in SVXY/XIV and a good point to scale in.

Like your articles and the fact that you dont "charge" for this service like others.

    Hi nathan,
Next time in the scenario when vix spikes during a event and moves towards your backwardation goal could you post a quick article or a note indicating you are very close or have taken a position (stock or option) in SVXY/XIV. That would be very helpful IMO.

  • Quite A Two Day Period For Volatility  [View instapost]
    Hello,
I would like to know more about your strategy below. First you plot the VIX/VXV ratio and then look for a trigger. Could you please elaborate? I really appreciate your time.
    Sincerely,
    Amar

A quick note to thank you Nathan for your work on this - it is much appreciated. I personally have taken a position in ZIV this time around, and plan on riding that for a while. I personally use the VIX-VXV spread for timing, which is why I didn't buy XIV this time around, as the VIX-VXV spread is currently still positive. Edmund

    Hi David,
When you say you plot the 16 month average moved forward 5 months- Does this mean when you plot the average on the monthly chart you use 21 as period? Thanks

  • Short Volatility ETFs: Underperformance, But Not Due To Fundamentals  [View article]
Can you explain this decline? For example SVXY earlier used to rebound 20-30 bucks after a pullback. After the october shutdown it went from 88 to 114 in a few days. Nowadays it moves like 1 or 2 bucks and has been range bound.
Is this due to the daily exposure change you are talking about? Or reduced contango? There was a previous artcile that said contango reduced from 7 -8 % to 3-4%.
    Can you explain?
Thanks a lot for your time
    Amar

  • VIX Shorts, Look Out Below  [View article]
    My thoughts exactly:
For example, in 2013 when market used to rip back SVXY would increase about 20-30 bucks in 1.5 month. The past month I have seen it increase a bit like 5-8 bucks and is flat whereas earlier used to go up and up.

    Hello,
Had a question regarding this. Does lesser contango correlate with lesser price swing in SVXY?
For example, in 2013 when market used to rip back SVXY would increase about 20-30 bucks in 1.5 month. The past month I have seen it increase a bit like 5-8 bucks and is flat whereas earlier used to go up and up.
So is less contago the explanation for this?
    Thanks

Listening to media is a nightmare. Try trading stocks while you have Larry Kudlow screaming in the microphone, it never works folks. Don't try it.
I'm not going to pull out a string of economic indicators and bore you with the market commentary you've probably gotten a little accustomed to.

    Good article. Keep it simple.

  • Navidea Biopharmaceuticals Pre-FDA Runup: Here Are The Risks  [View article]
Though selling off a bit recently, NAVB has already begun it's pre-FDA runup. I suspect the share price may stall out a little before the end of August, when the fast-money traders start to really take sides.

Its currently around 3.4 after todays drop. Do you have any guesstimates for price close to PDUFA?
