  • GAF: Barely Exposed to Emerging Middle East and Africa  [View article]
5% of the fund is AU and GFI. I guess that there are simpler ways to gain commodities exposure and specifically gold/platinum/uranium exposure. Now TEVA at 13% of the holdings makes the mix completely bizarre in my view - 13% is way too much for a single stock in the supposedly (or so it appears from the fund name) diversified fund.

  • EZchip's Fall Is Not a Collapse [View article]
Why so many Israeli companies do not pay dividend ? It is not like EZCH is a startup with great prospects of growths - the market is mature. The stock spent last 10 years moving nowhere, shareholders did not get a dime, managers constantly pulled money out of the company. I wonder what the board of such companies thinks ? It looks to me that the companies exist for the management.

Another obvious example is ORBK - the company generated some cash. I see only one time when shareholders got dividend - surprisingly i 2003. May be the company management prefers bad timed speculations with the company's money and expensive pet projects ?

And yet another one - ALVR. The company generate some cash last three years. Where this money ? Does the company need the money to support the future growth or to pay management compensation ?

TEVA is one which consistently paid dividend and check the stock price.

For me Israelis cos in most cases is just a short term speculation vehicle.
