  • Apple's iPhone 6 Market Impacts [View article]
He said Apple doesn't keep it. Obviously the merchant knows, and the CC processor has to get the merchant to know who to credit. Your charges will look just like any other, and will be administered the same way as always.

Tokenization is a well proven technology that hasn't been universally rolled out due to stalling by the credit card issuers who got Congress to put them in charge of their own regulations, and the processors and POS software vendors, who suffer no costs for fraud. Tokenization would have prevented all the recent high profile breaches and it is used routinely for CC processing -- just not widespread.

We just converted our small chain to tokenization, and it was like pulling teeth to get the vendors to provide the integration they needed to do. In the end, we couldn't budge them and had to just wait while they took their own time to get around to it.

When the processors provide merchants with stand alone machines which are not connected to the cash register, they help themselves to end to end encryption, which also hasn't been widely available to merchants of any size who need to use a POS system.

EMV will greatly reduce fraud, not because of the chip, but because along with it we get end to end encryption, which for some odd reason the credit card companies call point to point. All encryption is from some point to some other point: the significant aspect of the new protocol is that encryption is done at the swipe and stays encrypted until it arrives at the processor.

The misrepresentation will be continued, and the credit card companies will insist that EMV counters merchant security failures. But really, the chip only protects the credit card companies from counterfeit cards, the costs of which they must absorb.

Apple is taking tokenization to the next level. It sounds to me like they are tokenizing the CC data itself, not just the transaction data. The card identity will reside at the processor.

The public is about to get an education on credit card security. The CC companies in complicity with the Congress have been hiding the truth of their massive negligence.

ApplePay uses a version of tokenization, which is what the processors should have done 10 years ago. Could still, actually.

The chip adds little security, buy the protocol change to end to end encryption will cut the Target / HD breaches completely.

Yeah really. I mean it's not like I have a phone in my pocket all the time just in case I might want to use it. What a stupid plan.

So you felt compelled to add to the mis preception?

It was a breach of idiots, not Apple.

  • A Better Entry Point For Apple Will Become Available For Patient Investors: Updated [View article]
One more time, law of large numbers, as the term would be used correctly, would suggest APPL should move toward a market normal valuation.

If we're talking about a law of diminishing returns, let's call it that, and then examine its basis in fact.

What other multi hundred dollar product in our culture is on a two or three replacement cycle? Compare to autos, not pharma.

Looks to me like appl broke thru 100 on strength, blew past the point of a retest, and had to backtrack to retest previous high and the psychologically significant level.

After announce, one of two things will happen. If the new stuff is somehow short of the mark, which is unlikely, appl hangs around below 100 a while. More likely, it resumes a march, frequently overrunning and pulling back.

A short would be an emotional decision. This is a strong stock re attaining a previous long term high.

And if it's not a long candidate, pray tell, what is?

Institutional holdings are down a bit so it will be volatile and pricing will reflect the mass culture level of common sense in which we find ourselves. The hucksters and charlatans reign supreme. Buy circus stocks.

I'm thinking MacBook Air next too. With external monitor at the office it would make a serious tool for this mostly Windows servers IT tech, to work on windows machines with at least some of the Mac friendliness.

Sure like my 17 though, and it's been a workhorse and has years left to enjoy free upgrades. Another cost for PC users on the fence to consider.

Everything in my little after tax trading account is at all time highs, except my F. I, perhaps a bit immodestly, thought it was luck combined with QE and maybe a bit of decent picking.

If I need to flip to short on AAPL, why not all of them? Honestly, I worry more about whether it's time to exit HD than AAPL.

Long, holding, a few long short term options on dips.

Sally, they both offer an optional, extra cost keyboard at about identical prices. You will find at least a couple choices for keyboard cover combos at an Apple store. I saw a couple at Target too.

MS touts the keyboard. They don't say it is unique. The fans imagine that echo and reviewers with a couple iPad keyboards in the corner untested pass the rumor. Or malicious lies, depending on your level of regard for them.

If you'd pay just a tad more for a great experience for several years, the MacBook Air is in the same ballpark as a Surface it even runs Windows, tho you are then back into Paying endlessly to MS. My MBP runs Windows fine, though it feels very slow and takes three times as many clicks for everything.

This is exact same hardware running both OSes simultaneously, and the difference is striking. If you choose Win, shop for the most computer you can afford. If you choose Mac, suit your budget.

Apple gives clear tails when it reverses intra-day sometimes.

I haven't pulled the history, but it appears short for the last part of the session has been working during this run.

K1, some brokers don't put the stop on the market right away. On low volume options limit orders I sometimes don't see my bid or ask in the real time quote, but it executes if a tick passes.

It annoys me if I am inside the spread. I want it advertised so someone will take it.

Maybe I need to change some option about which market to execute on? Anybody know?
