Thanks for the response, sure hope so. Otherwise, it completely undermines his analysis and opinion.

What were you smoking when you titled this article? NFLX leading technology stocks?!?! Are you for real?!?! And it is not like you wrote this piece at market open today, you reference late day trading. If NFLX is leading any stocks anywhere, sell everything as quick as you can!

  • Another Friday of Testing VIX Lows?  [View article]
Bill, in addition, the rate of change on the VIX is divergent and failing to confirm the continued drop. As you are aware, ROC and RSI and other calculations of price velocity do not signal precise tops and bottoms, but rather give a general indication that such an extreme is likely approaching. For instance, the same (but opposite) divergence was present when the VIX was shooting up to 90 in October. The current divergence has been playing out since 04/17 when the VIX dropped below 35 for the first time this year. The divergence is starting to become more pronounced now. I agree that the VIX could drop to 24-25 near-term before basing and heading higher again for a period of time, and this kind of scenario would play well into the VIX seasonal cycle you wrote about the other day. Please keep up the excellent work!

Have you considered a trading strategy where both directions are shorted? If you have the ability, sum and chart each of the Direxion pairs. Had you shorted the pair on the day of their release you would be way ahead right now on each. Unless I am looking at this wrong, it appears as though maximum draw down on any of these trades was about 30%.

  • VIX:VXV Ration: Short Sell Signal  [View article]
Why were December call options on the VIX trading for less than September, October, and November expirations yesterday? Did anyone else notice that?

  • VXX: Record Volume on Speculation of a VIX Bottom  [View article]
wpdragon, I agree that short-term the candle looks bullish and that there is not much resistance until the upper 30s, but the daily candle was not bullish engulfing or hammer enough to really designate an absolute bottom in the VIX. My best guess here is that we get a rally in the VIX in the mid to upper 30s followed by one more grinding drop into the low to mid 20s. That said, charting RSI on the VIX is showing bullish divergence at these lows relative to past troughs. While that does not signal an absolute bottom, it does suggest that one is possibly approaching. Also, know that I was buying ITM October VIX calls the other day when it was at it's low around 26.50-75. I think this is a trade that a lot of people are overlooking in the market. Good luck!
