Best Yields With Ex-Dividend Day Between May 27 - June 02, 2013....

The ex-dividend date is a major date related to the payment of dividends. If you purchase a stock on its ex-dividend date or later, you will not receive the next dividend payment. Instead, the seller gets the dividend. If you purchase before the ex-dividend date, you get the dividend. It is important that your broker settles your trade before the ex-dividend date.

Today I like to widen this screen to High-Yields with a market capitalization over USD 300 million. Most of the high yielding stocks are full of debt and the only lower debt companies are such with a lower capitalization. The risks are much higher for those stocks. I also needed to lower my screening guidance because of the small amount of results. These are my new criteria:

- Market Capitalization over USD 300 million

- Dividend Yield over 5 percent

- Long-term debt to equity above 0.6

- Payout ratio under 50 percent

Now, twelve stocks fulfill these criteria. Six of the results have a current buy or better rating.

Price to book ratio is 1.33 and price to sales ratio 3.90. The operating margin amounts to 38.76 percent and the beta ratio is 1.35. Stocks from the list have an average debt to equity ratio of 1.33.

If you like to evaluate the future dividend growth you should definitely look at the debt situation and the payout ratio. Also important is the expected growth. Only a growing company can hike its dividends in the long-run without paying out capital assets and destroying shareholder values.

Today I like to present Dividend Contenders with the highest dividend payout potential. If they succeed to hike further dividends over the next few years, they can become a Dividend Champion very soon. These are my criteria:

- Payout ratio below 30 percent

- Long-Term Debt to equity under 0.2

- Market Capitalization over 300 million

Nineteen companies fulfilled the above mentioned criteria. Ten have a current buy or better rating.

Today I like to look at the biggest dividend stock buys from George Soros. George is a real speculator. His 20 biggest changes had an impact to his portfolio between 0.34 percent and 1.3 percent. Only eight of his 20 biggest stock buys pay dividends.

In total, George Soros has a much diversified fund. His biggest position, the SPDR S&P 500 ETF - Put, has a portfolio weighting of 4.8 percent. The second biggest position is the oil & gas company Pioneer Natural Resources with a 3.4 percent share.

In total, he has 41 stocks with a total portfolio worth of USD 85,001,344,000. Buffett bought two new companies and added nine additional stocks to his fund. The most important buys were Wells Fargo and Chicago Bridge & Iron Company.

In return, Buffett reduced three stocks and closed two positions completely. The biggest changer on the short side was General Dynamics.
