If investment in silver is the goal, why not buy Silver Wheaton shares? This company concludes long term contracts for the silver production of different base metal mining companies at some $3.00 per oz and then resells the silver. The Wall Street Journal recently had an article suggesting that in the next few years LNG would become a competitor to domestic non-conventional gas. The article mentioned a price of $2 per million BTU. It goes on to say that currently the more serious bottleneck to increasing imports is a limited capacity to liquefy natural gas, but this problem will be tackled over the next few years. Capacity to land and re-liquefy LNG is less of a problem and there are projects to cope with it as well. Resources of conventional liquefiable natural gas, not only in the Middle East, are enormous. If this scenario is realistic, then gas should remain cheap over the long term., but even increased consumption would be unlikely to drive up price significantly.

GE has received NRC approval to run a "test loop" to demonstrate this-and-that, including commercial viability, but the full licensing process apparently may take some 30 months. (gepower.com/prod_serv... All this does not mean that USEC wont get its money, unless the laser enrichment beats the centrifuge by a mile.
