    Help me here. The market is focused on Q1 2014, but could take a psychological step backwards, and focus on Q3 Q4 2013....which would be deeply negative because of the dividend pull-forward comparisons? What would prompt such a backward step? Thanks

    In our sphere, the cash on the sidelines is earmarked for bonds, not stocks. The retirement set is concerned about not losing the money sitting in CDs and savings, at near zero, and have already moved out of bond funds, adding to the cash.

    Why whine about only a buck? I believe flash crash "errors" on stop limits stood if they were within 65% of the closing price.

    The live and learn from both examples is never do anything at market anymore.

    Don't know about everywhere, but the price of well located "starter" homes in my area are back at their 2006 peak. These homes are priced at about the national median. New homes in a 10 mile radius start at nearly $500,000, so no affordable new homes.

    Not to mention the corporations deriving large percentages of their business from direct government contracts. There was a Cisco article that 40% of earnings came from government purchases.
