  • Amazon, Headless Horsemen And Toothless FANGs  [View article]
    This is unbelievable, incomprehensible article..

Sun died because it didnt evolve... look at HP, Dell, IBM.. stayed computer company too long..

Look at Amazon, no company is evolving and growing and succeeding in many different areas of business as Amazon.. they are not showing earning because Bezos chooses to invest.

5-10 years from now, Amazon may be the largest cloud company (AWS), largest media company (Prime Video), largest retailer (oh, yes, dont forget retailer) and some more (may be largest parcel delivery beating FedEx, may be largest robots and drones company).. may be one of these will fail, but a lot of them will thrive.. its very different from Sun..

SA needs to provide a "Unfollow" or "Disappear" button so I can avoid such articles..

  • My Thoughts On Brightcove Acquiring Unicorn Media; Why Company Won't Be Profitable In 2014  [View article]
Excellent article with insight and great discussion.

What's your opinion on companies like YUME, MM, TRMR... How do they compare to BCOV? Are these different business models or technologies?

Also, do you believe that being the early management of Limelight, Reinhart and McGowen had large contribution to their success? Or it succeeded only after these guys left?

  • Peregrine Semiconductor Warrants A Serious Look  [View article]
This is good reading,, and like almost all of Ashraf's articles, quite insightful.

Challenge with this space is that you can write pretty much same article on almost all of the PSMI's competitors. RF front end is highly competitive business and unless you show a substantial technical advantage that can be retained at-least for a year, you are more likely to see repeat of quarterly boom and bust cycle.

May be a good bet for a quarter or two.. But its for those who can jump ship in and out really fast.

  • 4 Undervalued Companies With High CEO Approval Ratings  [View article]
This is a great way of filtering. I agree that employee approval may be very valuable for long term success of business.

However, there is an issue in taking Glassdoor rating literally is its selection bias. Those employees who are not web savvy wouldn't be represented well on Glassdoor. So for mining companies like FCX, you only have around 50 employees reviews vs say Safeway at 600+ where a larger number of lower rank employees share their frustration on the web.

  • Pandora Proves Business Model, Non-GAAP Profitable In 2Q14  [View article]
Pandora plays > two minutes of ad per hour for more than a year now in areas where they can get ad sales. I hear 30 seconds ad every 9 to 15 minutes on an average. The rate is different in the work days commute time vs week ends.

Do you have an opinion of how will the new purchase of terrestrial radio statition affect their cost of music royalty?

Or Coke buys it to gain leverage over Pepsi..

Either way, SODA has demonstrated its ability to disrupt current models of Coke and Pepsi and they would be wise to something about it. Ignoring SODA is probably not in the best interest of either of them.

  • The Fresh Market: Put It On Your Grocery List  [View article]
    Thanks Philip.

I appreciate your insight into ROIC. Analytics used smartly can help big time. Another point I was thinking is in general is TFM serves richer clientele and their margins are higher for same level of investment which should drive ROIC.

I agree and excited to see TFM trading action. I added to my position yesterday and will likely add more in coming days.

  • SodaStream Q4 Results Prove Strength Going Forward  [View article]
Didn't SODA forecast <30% growth for 2012 and delivered >50%?
If I remember right, 2011 had similar outcome as well.
Likey hood of 2013 growing significantly more than 2012 seems very high.
