  • Interesting Times For All Commodities And Investments!! Chapter 74....  [View instapost]
I sold (NASDAQ:WIN) back in January, darn it. I still hold my (NASDAQ:FTR) and (NYSE:T), though. (NYSE:VZ) got the kick to the curb in June.

Talk of M&A in tele - stay tuned. :)

Speaking of Telecomm, what's up with (NASDAQ:FTR)? It's up almost 15% today...

    Rose,

But the total yearly dividend from both entities will be $0.70. (NASDAQ:WIN)'s current yearly dividend is $1.00.

They are definitely keeping the dividend. They are also definitely cutting it.

It may/may not increase - that remains an unknown at this point.

  • The Day I Sold Everything: Questions Answered [View article]
    Consensus:
    1. majority of opinion: The consensus of the group was that they should meet twice a month.
    2. general agreement or concord; harmony.

"The expression is redundant, however, only if consensus is taken in the sense “majority of opinion” rather than in its equally valid and earlier sense “general agreement or concord.”"

Geez. Some people are dense. I "got it", and as a now-married white male, did not find it offensive, nor would I have when I still had single status.

I fondly remember AYCE shrimp binges at Sizzler after a long day of fishing... :)

    Bob,

My point was in re: states w/o income tax. Trailer park Tom would do better in the state income tax-free state of Texas than he would in IL (which has a high sales tax as well as a state income tax).

Corps / rich folk pay more of the total tax income a state receives, regardless of which state they are in.

    Bob,

Sales tax paid is a deduction on the federal 1040. I surely would not trade my 7.75% - 9.75% (TN + local) sales tax for a return to the state of IL's income tax (plus a sales tax to boot!)...

Much more desirable to limit what you consume than it is to limit what you make for a living (if sales tax is an issue for someone)...

Because China only cares about China. Period. The U.S. tries to be everything to everybody, like a big nanny. The U.S. should adopt China's stance, and only care about the U.S.

I'll take it. It would be an easy job - the floggings will continue until morale improves. Have a nice day.

The people below the poverty line so not pay income taxes already. They typically receive more back from the government than gets withheld from their paychecks. If they would take enough deductions on their W-4's, they would not have anything withheld in the first place.
