Analysts are like weather forecasters. They change the forecast when they look out of their window and see the rain falling.

  • Re-Examining My Long Position On Corning After Earnings [View article]
Corning is an innovative research based company. They are at the forefront of innovation in glass products, be they antimicrobial gorilla glass or anti particulate filters for Diesel engines. As a scientist (since retired), I've always specified their products, because they were the best. Mr. Market will eventually have to catch up to GLW.
    Disclosure: Long GLW

  • How Much Kinder Morgan Is Too Much For A Dividend Growth Investor? [View article]
KMI is a major part of the energy infrastructure. Oil, gas, CO2, ethanol has to be transported no matter the cost of the products themselves. KMI is moving in and acquiring assets at bargain basement prices. KMI is not SDRL. When oil prices drop exploration (and rig count) also drops down. The only thing I will say, based upon my experience, is that it's never a good idea to hold too much of anything. KMI accounts for 7% of my rollover portfolio. I'll probably trim that down to <5%.

  • Durability Test: Realty Income [View article]
    Thank you Brad.
REITS have taken the place of many of my fixed income (bond fund) positions. While they have interest rate risk, just as bonds do, the also have the added dimension of dividend increases. O was the first REIT I purchased (for my Roth), thanks to one of your articles. I've purchased many more since then and haven't regretted any of them.

  • Kinder Morgan Inc Is Doing Exactly What I Bought It To Do [View article]
S&P also raised KMI to 4 stars. Compared to rail transportation, which constantly suffers derailments (along with fires and evacuations), pipelines are the way to go. KMI is the largest pipeline system in North America. It is also the most forward thinking pipeline. I'm overweight KMI, but i am reinvesting my dividends (especially at 5%+). I'm also ~30% ahead of my initial investment.

I purchased PWR shares more than a year ago. I realize it is a long term play. I also realize that it in a field that is due for some very rapid expansion. I'm down ~10%, but I believe I will not be disappointed.

  • Tough run for retail REITs [View news story]
I've been buying into Realty Income (O) for almost 2 years, now. As of today, I'm up 28.99%-no complaints here. I've just come to the realization that whenever "investors" hear interest rate hike rumors, the panic and sell. I like a good sale.

  • BASF: Go For Yield With The World's Leading Chemical Company [View article]
BASF is a good, innovative company. My only question is, what is their tax with-holding policy? It may not be good to hold in a tax deferred account.

  • Kinder Morgan Did Not Disappoint [View article]
What all the KMI detractors fail to understand is that KMI is basically a toll road. Energy prices are not as much a factor as volume. A toll road does not differentiate between say BMW's or Kia's-It's all about volume. Cheaper energy costs could result in greater volumes, because demand is enhanced.

  • Is Linn Energy's Situation Really That Dire? [View article]
Unfortunately, LNCO is in my Rollover. I'm down over 60%, but it doesn't pay to sell at this point. I consider it a lesson learned. Keep the more speculative stocks in a taxable brokerage account, so that you can take losses in them. In the mean time, I intend to just hold and reinvest my dividends. I don't expect everything to be a winner, nor should any investor. You wins some, you loses some.

  • Greece Says No: An Investors Guide [View article]
The Eurozone would be much better if Greece exited. Greece is basically a welfare state- 1/3 of the workforce work for the government, pension and disability cheating is rampant, and tax cheating is common. Making any concessions will just encourage them to continue in the same way. It would also provide an excuse for other countries in Southern Europe to ask for similar concessions.
