  • Tesla Motors - Spectacular First Quarter Report Is A Game Changer [View article]
What is a reasonable P/S ratio (too early to bother with P/E) for TSLA at this stage in its development?

And what is a sustainable ongoing level of EV sales once the early adopters all have theirs?

  • In a blow to investors seeking to oust the CommonWealth REIT (CWH) board, a Maryland judge rules the dispute must be resolved through arbitration. Corvex and Related sued after the Board rejected their $27/share buyout offer and instead went ahead with a secondary offering at $19. CommonWealth then filed for arbitration as allowed by its bylaws - a process stacked against shareholders, say the plaintiffs. CommonWealth reported earnings today, but the CC dialogue was strictly limited to operations. [View news story]
Chris, by your comment you are projecting that the $19 is a done deal?

  • Legendary Investor Jeremy Grantham Believes Natural Gas Prices Will Triple [View article]
I agree there is are pretty large incentives to drive a NG vehicle at current prices.

But the problem is that at $12 mcf, there's much less incentive for people to drive natural gas vehicles.

NG is going up long-term, but it may take longer than we may think.

  • Currency Positioning: It Is Not About The Dollar [View article]
What bobdark probably should have said was that interest payments will approach annual government revenue. And indeed, using your calculations, they would.

9% of GDP is a shade under what the japanese govt collects in annual revenue. So, interest would take up practically the entire budget. Not a good scenario.

Of course, it will take some time before the 3% you assume would be paid on all debt, as existing debt will not adjust until maturity,

    Really $480 billion? That's worth a numbers check...$480B is 3% of GDP.

    Probably closer to $480 million.

  • Linn Energy Vs. LinnCo: And The Verdict Is... [View article]
It certainly would not be my base case scenario, Pendragon, but i do not believe it wise to dismiss the possibility out of hand.

Tax diversification makes sense given multiple uncertainties (something those silly financial advisors who bang the table about "all Roth, all the time" would do well to consider.)

    Well, i certainly wouldn't :-)

But, i'll tell you what. If you put the true odds at one in a billion, I'll give you a deal that's 1000 times BETTER than that.

I'll accept odds from you of merely one in a million that that the Roth tax advantages are changed in the future. Seems like a deal too good to be true from your perspective!

Seems to me you are either 1) unaware of what a billion is, or 2) unaware of who the government is.
