  • Higher Click-Through Rates On Facebook Ads Drive Advertisers And Revenue To The Social Network [View article]
"Assuming that banner ads are still near the 0.1% number, Facebook click-through rates on the news feed are 12 times that of banners ads on the desktop and double that again on mobile news feeds."

A clear indication that there are a multitude of unintentional ad clicks and no additional sales from FBs intrusive ad placement.

  • Facebook (FB -1.2%) gives back a sliver of yesterday's post-earnings gains after S&P's Scott Kessler downgrades shares to Hold, declaring them "fully valued" after the run-up. Kessler also notes Facebook's upcoming lockup expirations - 234M shares become eligible for sale on Monday, and another 777M on Nov. 14 (this excludes the ones held by Mark Zuckerberg, who won't be selling). Facebook's decline comes even though Zynga is rocketing higher following its Q3 report[View news story]

  • Mark Pincus didn't mince words during Zynga's Q3 call: he admitted Zynga didn't innovate on content and features; that new games weren't introduced quickly enough; and that execution is to blame for Facebook gaming share losses. Several studio closures are part of Zynga's restructuring, as are plans to make more "high-engagement" mobile titles - mobile is now 20% of bookings. New video ad solutions (previous) are also on tap. ZNGA +13.2% AH. FB +1.3%, adding to the day's big gains. (live blog) (Q3 results: I, II[View news story]

Funny how you make an attempt to draw parallels between FB and GOOG. Here's the thing, people use Google to look for goods and services; they use use Facebook to post complete and utter non-sense.

But let's keep our comparison going. As of this morning, FB P/E is about 45. GOOG is about 20. Let's do some simple math and just cut the FB price in half to match GOOGs P/E. FB just became a $9.25 stock.

  • More on BTIG's downgrade of Facebook (FB -1.3%): Analyst Richard Greenfield argues Facebook's high mobile ad click rates are partly the result of oversized ads (leading to accidental clicks) and deceptive marketing practices that are hurting the user experience. He cites a Wal-Mart ad that gets users to "like" the company's page while giving the impression they're liking a picture as an example. Greenfield now forecasts 2013 revenue growth of just 14%, well below a 28.2% consensus. [View news story]
This is exactly why I deleted the Facebook app from my iPhone. Intrusive ads that generate more of an annoyance than a positive user experience.

  • Because a week wouldn't be complete without a new Facebook (FB -2.1%) ad product, the company is now giving users the chance to pay $7 to use its Promoted Posts offering, until now aimed at businesses, to make sure an important post will appear near the top of their friends' news feeds. Separately, marketing chief Carolyn Everson says Facebook has begun tailoring its ad products to specific industries such as auto and telecom - GM must be pleased[View news story]
I just deleted Facebook from my iPhone because of the intrusive ads they throw in my face.

  • JPMorgan's Doug Anmuth predicts Facebook's (FB +0.5%) Sponsored Stories ads will generate $1.25B in revenue next year, with $921M of that coming from mobile. Anmuth, who has a $30 PT on Facebook, also predicts total ad sales will top $10.2B in 2016, with Sponsored Stories accounting for nearly half of those sales. Facebook recently claimed Sponsored Stories are on a $1M/day run rate, and that mobile click rates are particularly high. [View news story]
Holding firm. My timing was off a little but the end result will be the same. FB is going sub $15 around the middle of November.

  • Facebook (FB) may have found a way to prove its value to advertisers by working with data-mining company Datalogix to track how many users buy a firm's products after seeing its ads on the social network. Of 45 campaigns measured, advertisers earned an extra $3 in incremental sales for every dollar spent on Facebook in 70% of cases. However, Datalogix's techniques have raised the usual privacy concerns. [View news story]

  • Facebook Insiders Are Selling. What Should You Do? [View article]
"We are in @ $38 in all our accounts pre-IPO agree with above will be careful sellers keeping some for our spec as we are cautious bulls. We will then wait till the hype dies down then buy on fundamentals exponentially on dips. The closest IPO to FB that came out lately is (RENN) FB of China.Folks that bought the day 1 pop got totally toasted. So if you cannot get in before wait to buy. Sell at least enough if you have shares to play with the house money APD "
