  • Getting A Handle On Telecom New Zealand's Real Dividend Yield [View article]
It appears the double taxation issue was amended in 2009.

    Here are the reduced rates:

    Current from 1 January 2011
    Interest: 10% 10% *
    Royalties 10% 5%
    Dividends 15% 0% or 5% or 15% **
    * financial institutions may qualify for a reduced rate if Approved Issuer Levy is paid in NZ.
** 15%, unless the owner holds at least 10% of the voting power in the company, in which case the rate is 5%.

  • My Transition To Dividend Growth Investing: A Look Back To Last Summer When It All Began [View article]
Interesting article FinancialStorm. FWIW the core of my portfolio constitutes companies based in countries backed by strong currencies. I have little faith in the USD over the long term.

My top 5 holdings which make up approximately 37% of my overall portfolio are listed below. All have been growing distributions over the years.

    Best regards.

    Pembina Pipeline (PBA)
    Philip Morris (PM)
    RioCan REIT (RIOCF)
    APA Group (APAJF)
    Telstra (TLSYY)

  • Pembina Pipeline Corp: Solving The Canadian Oil Sands Infrastructure Issues [View article]
It appears new rail capacity is set to come online by 2015/16 that is roughly the size of Keystone XL. This seems to be very good news for Pembina. While Transcanada and Enbridge make all the headlines, Pembina continues to expand w/o the publicity.

    Hi Brad,

Will management be internalized with the LSE merger?

Wow, that is one heck of a presentation:) Thanks for the link MW.

That is very telling of management to put up a presentation as sloppy and misleading as Gladstone's. Makes you wonder if management is taking their investors to the cleaners.

  • Singapore Updates: Upsides And Downsides [View article]
Excellent post UP. I always assumed 30% was w/h in both taxable and tax exempt accounts.

The recent strength of the USD seems to provide some opportunity here. Does anyone know of any special w/h on Singapore REITs? At this time, I have great interest in CapitaMall Trust and Singapore Telecom.

Squeeky Wheel, thanks for the shedding light on Singapore. I feel SA could use more foreign coverage, but the viewers do not seem to be interested.

    Best regards!

  • American Realty Capital Properties: Plenty Of Salsa, But Not Yet A SWAN [View article]
    Hi Brad,

Another insightful article. I went long ARCP after you recommended backing up the truck, sold for a nice profit, and bought back in again after they pulled out of the CCPT3 purchase.

Any chance Realty Income swoops in with an all stock offer (at a nice premium) and Schorsch takes the money and returns to managing ARC's non-traded REITs?? I would think the ARCP portfolio would look mighty tasty to Mr. Lewis, especially with O hitting new highs on a daily basis.

    Best regards!

  • It's Now Trading At $50, So Is There Any Oxygen Left In O? [View article]
The debt to market cap ratio has dropped significantly over the last two quarters. Can this be attributed solely to the run up in share price, debt being paid down, or a combination of the two?

On another note, nice article on Chambers Street. I have it on my radar and will be watching carefully once it is listed.

    Thanks for the detailed response!

  • It's Now Trading At $50, So Is There Any Oxygen Left In O? [View article]
    Hi Brad,

Keep the articles coming, they are much appreciated. Just want to say that I focus on the income that my portfolio generates, not the overall value. We're just ducks in the pond and the water level has risen. The beauty of "The Monthly Dividend Company" is that the distributions keep rolling in, the income produced can either be rolled back in to purchase additional shares or used to purchase another income producing instrument in any market, up or down. At this time I'm holding O w/ no intention of selling.

Being that O holds north of 90% unsecured debt, how does this hold up in a rising interest rate environment? I am assuming this comes down to duration. Can you comment on the duration of their debt instruments? My gut tells me we are in the middle of a game of musical chairs and nobody knows when the music is going to stop. I would feel better if O locked in rates at these levels as far out as possible.

    Best regards.

  • A Closer Look At Buckeye Partners' Distributable Cash Flow As Of 4Q 2012 [View article]
    Hello Ron,

Management expects better DCF coverage in the second half of 2013 and then 2014.

Per Clark Smith CEO on Q4 CC:
"So my expectation is that we will certainly see improved coverage in 2014.

We would expect stronger coverage likely in the last half of 2013, certainly the fourth quarter, given the seasonal nature of our business. We are very much focused on trying to be back in a position where we can increase distributions. We recognize the importance of that to our unit holders.

But we also have to balance that with our financial position and make sure that we’re making the appropriate decisions, so ensuring that we’re reconciling the needs of the balance sheet with the needs of increases from a distribution perspective, and we also have to deal with the uncertainty around FERC. So we need to be at a point where we have a clear line of sight to stronger coverage and then we’ll start looking at adjusting the distribution policy."

I currently hold a small position in BPL and plan to hold. Seems like a good play to sit and collect the safe ~6.75% distribution with the probable chance of an increase in a year or so. It seems in this current market environment, cash flow investments such as partnerships and REIT's with strong balance sheets/prospects are beginning to be over bought. Thanks for the article.

    Best regards.

  • Buy Canadian Oil Sands To Profit From A Significantly Tighter Global Oil Market [View article]
COS posts daily pricing on their website (http://bit.ly/119ItE7). Pricing has been trending down but still fetching a premium to WTI.

On 4/15, the price was $614.43 CAD per cubic meter (1US bbl oil = 0.15899m³). This equates to $97.69 CAD per barrel, not too shabby.

Management has mentioned the divy is safe as long as WTI trades north of $80/per barrel. Not sure if they factored in the premium they are receiving for Syncrude.

I have an above average position and considering adding at this level. I believe the infrastructure will come, we just have to be patient. BTE is another position I am considering adding to as well.

    GL!
