The importance to me of the slight dividend increase is that it signals an end to the series of dividend decreases.

"Anyone who reads anything written on SA without a grain of salt is a fool."

The problem is that there are plenty of fools who react on the basis of what they read here, and those fools affect the share price. So whether a post contains bad information or bad opinion it makes little difference on the short term impact of the posting.

Furthermore, those who know about the post in advance can take advantage of that fore-knowledge to the detriment of the rest of us. I submit that is illegal trading since it is based on inside information.

That doesn't make sense to me, because they are being repaid in shares. That puts them in the position of paying 4.5 M for shares to become fellow shareholders with us. What am I missing?

You need to draw a line between political speech and pump or dump articles.

In my opinion, it is a fact that (particularly with smaller companies) every time an article is posted on SA there is a reaction in the share price regardless of the real facts. Check the charts after an article is posted - whether you agree with the author or not - and you will see what I mean. Those reactions provide opportunties for the authors which are not available to the rest of the investing community who did not have advance information about the posting.

Sure, its great when someone posts an article re a company in which you have a position. That is not the issue; which is whether the author or his friends, family or asociates is trading off information not available to others. That is the essence of insider trading laws which make such action criminal in nature. People just haven't thought it through yet.

You will benefit from proper application of the insider trading laws when you hold shares in a company and someone bashes it.

People can have opinions, and they can publicize those opinions. No problem! It becomes illegal when they profit from their actions based on the knowledge that their opinions will be publicized. Its no different from a CEO selling his shares before a bad earnings report.

Nevertheless, in my opinion, if someone buys, or sells, or sells short a stock knowing that they would be posting a one-sided article that would be likely to influence the share price; then they are trading on insider information and are subject to applicable laws against insider trading.

So this situation "should unnerve investors". Why doesn't that bother me? Because unnerved investors have only a fleeting effect on current price, and no lasting effect on the value of the investment.

I don't know why everyone gets so negative about the Fed raising rates. They would do that because the economy is improving; which is very bullish across the board.
