CardioNet Takes a Beating, But Keeps on Ticking [View article]
Hi Mike,
Nice find. Was wondering how great a possibility of further reimbursement cuts you feel there is, and whether the management would have any means of preventing them. Obviously you feel that valuation of the stock and buyout potential outweigh the chances, but just wanted to get your opinion. Keep em coming man.

Though I have cleared my position in BDSI (about a dollar ago, thankfully), I am confident that it is a good medium-term investment. They have a tangible product now, and cash to fund operations for quite some time. Stock should not be anywhere as low as it is (pre-approval prices, wtf?) The delay in approval, and the mishandling of the press release has created a weird dynamic in the stock price short-term. Not sure I would jump in just yet, but anywhere much lower would be too good to pass up for a buy-and-hold investment strategy.

Would you believe that I cleared my position in HGSI early last week? Was hesitant to risk on the results of the trial and needed to free up some funds.. Oops. Hopefully accumulating SPPI on dips will help make a little bit of that up, approval seems like a solid bet. As always, thanks for the insight Mike.
Agreed fully with bio365. If the announcement was made at 8:01 PM last night, we would have been looking at an $8 or $9 stock this morning. That was alot of waiting for a tiny bump, and I think alot of us didn't sell at peak prices because we were expecting so much more. I had an average share price of just under 6 and liquidated at 6.5, so I'm not complaining about an aggregate 10% return in a month.. but I can't help but feel shorted after waiting so long.
That being said, I think that VFC is right and BDSI is still a great long opportunity. They have their revenue stream now (plus milestone for stability) and a solid pipeline, and I think a buy-and-hold strategy could yield a pretty good return in the medium term. I would still give it a little while for things to cool off before jumping back in though. Good luck out there all.

I think your readers should consider the following:
-There is only one "insider" entity selling shares, CDC/Mark Elliott, who has been in BDSI for a long time and is cashing out with a massive profit, even as shares have cooled off since the FDA's response.
-Total insider holdings are almost 7M shares, and less than 1.25M shares have been cashed out (for a huge gain) before their upcoming event. If insiders were truly concerned, we would be seeing some serious unloading.
-The highest daily close for BDSI was 6.94, not "nearly $8". It has cooled to roughly 5.70 at the time of this writing, as speculators grow impatient.
I would expect that we will receive news one way or another at some point this week. Seeing as that all aspects of the review have been agreed upon except the risk mitigation strategy, which for a new type of drug will take a little while to finalize (read: the current short delay in approval), I would think that odds are looking pretty good. I am long BDSI at roughly 6 bucks and am continuing to hold. 5.70 is a great price for a solid spec play that will probably near-double the price of the stock. Just my .02, keep on writing.

1. There is no way housing prices will be doing anything but dropping in the short term. Look at the chart.
2. I would expect volatility to be falling from here on out (i.e. decrease at a decreasing rate), which means we will probably see eventual decline in the value of these 3x ETFs. I am not 100% confident of this assumption, but it has been the case with similar securities.
If I were going to get involved with these funds (which I am not), I would be shorting UMM for a reasonably safe long-term investment with a good rate of return. Just my .02, good luck all.
