  • Cisco General Counsel Blogs On iPhone Suit [View article]
Considering that Apple swears its employees to secrecy, its not surprising that there arent any "company blogs".

  • Nine Ways Apple Changed the Face of Consumer Electronics [View article]
You forgot to mention one company, Palm. The CEO of PALM, Ed Colligan, made his famous remarks a month or two ago saying the iphone from Apple wont be an instant hit, after all they are PC guys. It will take them a while before they put out a real competitive product. After that it was announced that their treo 750 will be delayed in United States and while some of the blame falls on the wireless carriers, Mr Colligan took part of the blame as well. Seems like they still dont know how to put out a competitive product, and now Apple comes out with a picture perfect phone. Whos laughing now Ed?

  • iPod Still King -- Jaffray [View article]
I dont think the iphone with its current price and current availability (not shipping 'till June and even then only with cingular) will add market share for Apple. Sandisk's new mp3 players are significant improvements over what is currently available. Sandisk only entered the market two years ago and is already a solid number two with roughly 15% of the market. The Sansa Connect and Sansa View are two new innovative (yes another company can also be innovative) products that will challenge Apple for more market share. Whats more, due to Sandisks ready access to Flash and excellent cost structure they can undercut the rest of the market by about 35%. So when it comes to pricing Sandisk is king, and they arent that far behind in innovation either.

  • Apple Unveils The iPhone [View article]
Broadcom may be selling the integrated circuit for the multi touch feature, but for video and audio playback, I wouldnt be surprised if Apple went with PortalPlayer (which is now nvidia). Their SoC microprocessor is currently used in the video ipod and rumor has it that Samsung will be sticking with the other flash based players excluding the iphone.

  • Apple's iPhone Revealed: A First Hand Account From MacWorld [View article]
Im guessing Cingular will offer a mail in rebate of some sort. Cingular is the only shoice considering it has to be GSM. Would you prefer Tmobile? Or perhaps an MVNO. Either one of those two will get you screwed. This was the only way. Remember the original ipod also priced most of America out of the picture and still did fairly well and im sure you know what happened when prices dropped.

  • Apple's iPhone Partnership With Cingular Could Drag It Down [View article]
reinharden stole my words exactly. Not a very well thought out article. Just to add, Cingular collaborated with Apple on some of the underlying technology, if it was in exchange for exculcivity who knows, but its not surprising that Apple chose Cingular.

  • Ten Thoughts On The iPhone [View article]
The battery life on the iphone is (up to) 5 hours talk/video/browse time and 16 hours of audio playback.
This is better than the Pearl (RIM) at 3 1/2 hours, better than the Q (motorola) at 4 hours and better than the Treo 750 (Palm) at 4 1/2.
