  • MIA: Apple Investors [View article]
What are we supposed to do? There is immense pressure and scrutiny on the stock thanks the Apple's position as a 'market leader.' Us Apple bulls can't simply watch our investment shrink in value while hoping for the best.

  • Apple: Of Cults And Cool, Hype And Sheep [View article]
It doesn't even have to be any major university! Even at the tiny, private university I recently spent two years at, walking through the library during midterms would reveal scores of students using MacBooks and iPads. Easily over 65% of students had a Mac as their main computer and an even greater percentage were desiring of a Mac. However, I think it goes further than simply the 'cool' factor. It took me a while to switch to Apple products, but once I did, I never looked back. My reason for using Apple products, and subsequently being long Apple can be explained in one sentence. I use my MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone and iPod every single day of my life; if I'm using these devices at such a frequency, why wouldn't I want them to not only look great, but function exceptionally as well? Seems like college students just want devices that work and work right. Apple's devices fill this role perfectly, and look awesome to boot.

I feel exactly the same way about Apple. It is the exceptional people leading the company that have been responsible for the success countless investors and consumers around the world benefit from today. This is also why I don't buy any comparison between Apple and companies like Microsoft, Google and Amazon.

  • The NYT's John Broder takes Tesla's (TSLA) Model S up and down the East Coast from Washington on Interstate 95, where the company has installed Supercharger stations 200 miles apart. Things start dandily enough, but then the weather cools, and Broder has to endure freezing feet and white knuckles because he has to turn the heating off to preserve power. Eventually, he needs a tow truck to pick him up because the car runs out of juice[View news story]
Teslas are all the rage in Silicon Valley right now. You see them everywhere. I've driven the coupe as well as the Model S and I am not ashamed to admit that I'm impressed. It's a solid product. With a bit more fine tuning, I feel the overarching concept is poised to be the next evolutionary phase of transportation for us.

There is nothing like RWD. That's why I drive a BMW. 50/50 weight distribution, front engine, RWD. The finer things in life.

  • As Google Maps Humiliates Apple, The Upside Is Millions Will Finally Upgrade To iOS 6 [View article]
I never experienced a single problem with apple maps. I downloaded and tried google maps and to be honest, I wasn't that impressed. Removed it from my iPhone in favor if apple maps.

  • Good hardware only goes so far when its app ecosystem is deficient: that's the common argument found in The Verge's reviews of Nokia's (NOK) flagship Lumia 920 and Google/Samsung's Nexus 10 tablet. The 920's display, design, and (with some qualifications) camera get high marks, and so do the 10's display (considered on par with the iPad), performance, and battery life. But with Windows Phone and (as far as tablets go) Android still badly trailing the competition in terms of app support, neither product gets a resounding endorsement. We saw this at the latest AAPL announcement, android tablets use scaled up phone apps. Who wants that?

  • Apple Has Peaked: The Warning Signs Are Multiplying [View article]
A difficult question to answer indeed, because in truth, there is no firm out there like AAPL. I think in some instances, GOOG and AMZN are better choices, only because of their market positions. In the end, I'm not sure how much meaningful data can be derived from such comparisons. It's not 1999 anymore.

  • Apple Has Peaked: The Warning Signs Are Multiplying [View article]
I agree that the traditional value investing/rule 1 approach probably isn't the best path to take for AAPL. Because of the media coverage and internet discussion, a technical and statistical approach is definitely favorable. However, once you drew a comparison between AAPL and MSFT, you lost all credibility. The two companies have completely different objectives, organizational cultures and management styles.

  • Let Negative Sentiment Help You Get Long Apple [View article]
Your strategy closely matches mine. Through technical analysis, I was signaled to buy AAPL when the stock touched $610 a few days ago. Now, with a likely earnings miss on the horizon, my plan remains unchanged, continue to accumulate more shares as the price trends down. Can't wait to see what the next few months bring. Your article was a pleasure to read and it's awesome to see someone actually post their strategy.

  • Will Apple Kill The 13" MacBook Pro? [View article]
I think you have things a bit backwards. The MacBook air models have always featured lower end internals and a sleeker form factor. It is the MacBook pro that has been trending slimmer and faster, and now with a brilliant display. If anything, I would think Apple would kill the MacBook Air line and focus solely on the Pros, making them slimmer and faster. While I have a 15" MBP, college campuses everywhere are saturated first and foremost with 13" MBPs, followed by 15", then the MBA and lastly the 17" which was discontinued long ago.

  • Will Apple Get Its Mojo Back? [View article]
I sense a lot of emotion with this article. Not the best thing when we're talking about investing. In addition, I must say statements regarding the younger generation favoring windows are completely inaccurate. Visit any college campus in the US and I can essentially guarantee the majority of devices you see are Apple products. College students love their MacBooks, iPads and iPhones because they fit their lifestyle via their simplicity, ease of use and aesthetics. I believe those elements alone are a winning strategy for Apple and could prove to keep the company performing well for years to come.
